I know the "grail" word gets thrown around a lot in the world of knives. I've actively tried to avoid using the term because of how much it gets thrown around...after this weekend's acquistion, my position on using the "grail" word may have changed:

Yup....Grail unlocked!
The Busse AK-47 has been calling my name since I first started lurking around here in the second half of 2010. Somehow it's taken me up until now to finally score one, but I think it's safe to say it was well worth the wait because this is one special AK. Some of you may recognize this specific AK from here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/890417-So-I-hear-Ban-has-done-some-AK47-mods
Ban offered to let me buy his AK-47 a couple weeks ago, and I quickly scrambled to sell pretty much everything in my collection that I could bear to part with. Between unexpected expenses, along with a couple foolish purchases over the last couple of months before getting the chance to buy this, I had already let go of a couple special knives I really didn't want to let go of. Having said that, I have lusted after this specific AK for too long now...i had no choice but to do whatever it took to buy it. Now that it's in hand, I'm soooo glad I did!
Jerry, I salute you! The AK-47 is truly AWESOME in so many ways
Once I've had a chance to use it more and snap some better pics, I'll make another post.
For now, here are a couple more pics:

Just look at that deliciously frosty finish! And almost half of the blade polished.....just fantastic! In addition to the satin finish, polished edge with thinner more efficient cutting geometry, and those scales (a marble micarta made of two different colors of canvas and a couple sheets of carbon fiber), Ban also tapered the tang to shift a little more weight forward. It is just perfect in every way :enamored: :hearts: :cupid:
I wasn't able to use it as much as I would have liked to this weekend, but the little bit that I did use it left me pretty impressed:

After seeing how effortlessly it sliced through this little piece of bamboo, rest assured that I will be on the lookout for some wider pieces to test it out on.
It also did well on hardwood, despite not being a chopper. I've never really swung a sword before getting this AK - despite my inexperience, I was surprised to see that technique really does make a difference...that ads a depth of enjoyment that I really look forward to exploring as I use and enjoy it more.
OMG, this thing is soooo much fun!
Seriously guys (and gals), I recommend EVERYONE to try out a Busse sword at one point or another...if you're wanting a sword to enjoy for things other than cutting through bodies and generally fleshy objects, an INFI sword is the way to go
Oh and in regards to the thread title, I'm pretty sure the wife is as smitten by this beautiful blade as i am:

Having said all this - I'd love to see some more AK pics if anyone feels like sharing!
