PSSSST! don't tell my wife, but I think I'm in love with an AK....

Congrats on a great score.

In addition to the satin finish, polished edge with thinner more efficient cutting geometry,

This is the key. Geometry cuts. I never used my CG AK before selling it off, but it did have a very stout edge. As did the Ruck and Waki before there were thinned down on the belt grinder to a thinner profile. Of course, at that point, you have to consider that you own your own warranty, and trust Busse HT + your common sense to avoid trouble.

Yes sir, you're totally right about that...it seems like almost all Busses up until about 2011 had really thick edges and thinning them out seems to be the best thing you can do to improve cutting performance....of course you know this RG ;)

Ban seems to have found a really nice sweet spot with the edge geometry on this AK. Thin enough to slice through grasses and soft plant matter and bamboo without any issues, but at the same time it still feels beefy enough to handle just about anything else I could want to throw at it (or throw it at ;) )

Sick Habib! I am currently trying to decide between a Waki, and an AK47.. Would love a Butaniku. But they are 1,200 +

+2 for the AK! The AK is 1.5" longer and has that schaweet curve to the blade!

Go for it!!!! ;)

Those points, my friend, are precisely what pushed my decision the way of the AK.... That and the fact that I wanted satin. The AK being INFI means a bit more stain resistance.

My post tells you my vote, but yea incase it isn't clear enough, I say go for the AK...its slightly longer, but still short enough to be pretty useable and versatile in smaller spaces. Thinking more along the lines of clearing brush or a trail, father than in terms of close quarters combat, BTW..

INFI seems pretty perfect for a sword, especially if you're planning to do non-sword things like throw it, chop wood, or engage in other acts of senseless fun & abuse. The convex grind also results in a lot of steel, probably way more than most people will ever need behind the edge, so the advantage of that is that you end up with a great platform for further modification (if you do want better balance for training purposes, or just want to thin things out for better cutting performance).

But if you're wanting to go satin, I'd say that alone makes INFI worth going for. Besides the obvious benefits in super stain-resistance, the composition of INFI results in a truly beautiful satin finished blade....I'd have to say they're well worth the extra expense and potentially longer wait to find one that's to your liking.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you are trained in using Japanese style blades or swords in general, I'm guessing you probably won't like any of the Busse(kin) swords since they all seem pretty geared towards fun, more so than anything else....just my own opinion based on information gathering over my few years of living an INFI-enhanced lifestyle 😜😁🔪🔪🔪

All the right reasons..... I was lucky back in 2011 or so.... The AK wasn't in production. I didn't want to go the second hand route. I called Lexi up and she checked with Garth to see if they had any blanks. I REALLY was lucky:D. Sweet satin with black G10.

Hey bro I meant to tag you in my reply above as far as why I'd recommend the AK over your other possibilities...

Hey sorry dude, I wasn't paying attention when I replied earlier and actually meant to quote @awareunlikeu in that ;)

Pretty awesome that you were able to score your AK through the shop though! Seems like it's always worth giving the shop a call when looking for something that's out of production...you never know what they have laying around
