Pull ball knife

What is a "pull ball knife"? Does it have a function or is it just decoration?

Others can probably give you more detail than me, but basically, it is just a type of automatic knife (ie, switchblade). I'm not sure of the mechanism, maybe the pull ball section holds the blade under tension until pulling the ball out from the base of the knife. That is a guess.
