I had everything in my cart the other day only to find I'd missed a 15% off coupon code by a day. That ticked me off, so I decided to wait. I've hum-hawed around a few days looking for deals, even contacting customer service at my vendor to try and sweet talk an extension on the discount. That was a no-go, though I was offered a price match discount if all the other competing vendors were "authorized dealers." That avenue wasn't going to work on the lower Google prices I wanted to match. A little more Google persistence, however, did turn up an older but still active 10% off coupon code. Given that my vendor was running a free shipping on Maxpedition gear over $100, I went ahead and ordered. Figured by the time the 15% deal rolls back around, the free shipping would be kaput. I still saved about $32, and I'm supposed to get a free trauma (first aid) kit as part of the Maxpedition promo. I'll poke that gear in my emergency car kit I'm building.

So anyway, I went whole hog and picked up...
  • Maxpedition Falcon II
  • Maxpedition 5" Clip Phone Sheath (for my Garmin GPS)
  • Maxpedition Single Sheath (for a Surefire 6P)
  • Camelbak Storm 100 oz. reservoir for the pack
  • Some Tac-Ties for connecting the GPS sheath via molle system
  • Some Grimlocs (great for on-the-go attachments)
  • Some OD paracord

Everything is OD green. Moose will be proud of me.
Looking forward to getting the pack. I hope it comes in time for a hunting trip I have planned in a couple of weeks.
I'll get some Maxpedition and Becker pics up when it comes.

I am very proud, I likes me some OD. Good call too, that is good looking list of gear, I will be getting a thermite versipack and a Nalgene bottle pack soon.

I'm blaming Flexxx if my wife freaks out over the post-holiday order. He kept putting up pictures of that black bag of his. :D

You will love this pack, it expands to your needs and is compact at the same time if that makes sense.

O.D. Green is sweet.
I won't say anything else you will find out yourself how nice this pack is, I think the only other pack I have is TAD's FAST Pack Litespeed.
Lapolicegear is a good place to get gear. excellent customer service and fast shipping

Here is a pic of Falcon II in O.D. Green...

Hey, I was trying not to deal spot! :D. But yeah, I've ordered from LAPG before, and one nice thing us the selection. I got all the components at one place and avoided multiple shipping fees.

The pack looks good. In February, I'm picking up a hammock, and I hope to overnight out of this pack in the summer months. Here's one of the pics that sold me on it.

Its a awesome pack, I've heard guys use it for 3-4 days out.

its amazing how it expands and deflates with the amount of gear used.

Ive got the Pygmy II and ive also got the phone sheath, single sheath, tactile pocket and the Barnacle attached to it. Also in OD green although i now wish id gotten it in another color. Military green just isnt my color. I use mine as an urban edc bag. For hiking i prefer purpose-built hiking packs such as those from Osprey, etc.

10% eh? mmm... will have to shop around next time the budget clock ticks :)

3-4 days.. ! Minimalists I tell ya..

Isn't that pack only a 1500??

Yeah, its only 1520.

I would only take it for overnights, two at the most.
I think alot of guys add alot of other gear to the pack to make it carry more.

adding a couple mega rollypollys would help boost the capacity to around
2520 cu. in.

I'm just looking to overnight out of it at some nearby state parks. From there, we'll see about adding modules.

I have the Pygmy Falcon II already, and it's a nice little pack that essentially functions as my BOB.
IIRC, I got it and a Baby Condor back when they hit the Closeouts at LAPG a few years back.
Here's a quick pic of the Pygmy...

Was any of what you ordered in stock?

Waiting for some maxpud stuff myself... The Falcon II is a great bag, esp. in OD!

Guyon that Pygmy Falcon II is sweet, I really like the camo color...

wish they still carried those colors

Hope so, but I'm not 100%. I did read about a lot of backorders and long waits after they put all Maxped. gear on 30% clearance this past October. Just too many orders and not enough stock. If I have to wait for a backorder, it's not the end of the world, but I do have an email in asking about shipment time frame.

That was murder ... I ordered a Falcon II and a 10 x 4 bottle holder and it took 6 weeks to receive.

Update for anyone interested...
I heard back from the vendor about inventory status.
Four items were back-ordered.
- Maxpedition 5" Clip-on Phone Holster
- Maxpedition Single Sheath 1411
- Maxpedition GRIMLOC Locking D-Rings
- CamelBak Storm 100 oz
ETA on the above items is 2 to 3 weeks. I asked about a split shipment and was told there's a $5 fee.
I raised a little hell (in a very nice way) via LiveChat and LAPG agreed to waive the fee.
So I retained all the hard-won savings, and I should get the pack soon, hopefully in time for my trip.
The rest of the stuff will follow directly. Good thing I'm a patient fellow.
I will say that, despite the backorders, the folks at LAPG have been super responsive and helpful.

I have been completely torn between the Falcon II and the Pygmy for about a week now. It's that damn Flexxx and his sexy Falcon II rig pics that started this mess! At least this thread is fairly fresh, so I didn't see the need to start another.

Do you all find that the Falcon II is maybe a bit too big for EDC or a BOB, but at the same time too small for a bag, and maybe a small tent? I think I want to just go with the Pygmy because it is smaller and if I want a bigger pack for longer treks, I'll likely buy some type of external frame bag. I see this pack mainly being used for day hikes, and a possible overnighter in warm weather (I do live in Southern California, so packing for cold weather isn't really a concern). Also, the fam and I are at Disneyland at least once a month, and traveling smaller seems like the better way to go. Plus, who the hell wants to drink out of my water bladder? Bottles seem like a much more utilitarian solution for water carry, and the Pygmy trumps the Falcon II in that respect. That points me to the Pygmy, right?

Does the Pygmy have good attach points for something as big as the BK7 (not for the Disneyland trips) or will I likely be able to attach little more than than a BK11?

Falcon II all the way, it works excellent for day hikes/over-nighters and EDC, one of the things I did not like about the Pygmy was the bottle holders on the sides, if you want to pack water add a rolly polly to the falcon and your good, if not you still have all the molle attachments, also the falcon II is not that much larger then the pygmy.

The Falcon II deflated when not loaded up, as you fill it it expands, the falcon is
25 liters and the pygmy is 23 liters, you will not see a huge difference.

One more thing to consider is organization, the Falcon II is perfect for all the smaller and bigger stuff...
