Pulled The Trigger on a Falcon II

How is this pack in terms of ventilation on the back? A while back I was looking at either this bag, or a Camelbak HAWG 500, and ended up with an ICE Tac assault pack that I got for a really good price locally. Turns out the ICE bag does not venitlate the back at all. After an hour and a half of hiking, putting up a decent pace, but I wasn't running a race, my back is absolutley soaked in sweat, the whole back of my shirt would be a giant sweatstain.

So I'm back on the market for a smallish day pack. The back panel on the Falcon-II looks quite a bit like the one on my ICE, no mesh panels or anything, so I'm wondering how well it breathes.

I've never had a problem with it making me sweat compared to brand X.

I've used alot of different packs and even with a mesh backing I still would sweat a little depending on outside temperature.

One thing I have found is if you add a water bladder, it will create a nice padding on the falcon II, since I don't us a water bladder often I will fold up a white T-Shirt and put that in the compartment, makes for some nice padding and you will have a extra shirt if needed.

One other thing is mesh will wear out easy compared to just tactical nylon.

If I had the cash I would be picking up a TAD Gear Litespeed, damn sweet pack but expensive...

My Falcon II is here. Cool pack. I'll post up some pics when I get it all set up.

I've been looking around at different places comparing costs. I think I might pick one up when I get paid. I have a Mil-Spec version of the Falcon II in OD that I really like, but want to pick up a black one for a bit less 'military' look.

OD is the new black; haven't you heard? :D
Military is all ACU Digital Camo now. :p

Cool pack Guy. I just recently got my first Maxped bag, and I have to say I am impressed with how rock solid it feels. Good stuff.

I got a Maxped Monsoon Gearslinger. Trying to keep it light as well.

i think it's all the molle webbing that makes it look military than anything else.

anyone know what this loop is for?

Falcon II all the way, it works excellent for day hikes/over-nighters and EDC, one of the things I did not like about the Pygmy was the bottle holders on the sides, if you want to pack water add a rolly polly to the falcon and your good, if not you still have all the molle attachments, also the falcon II is not that much larger then the pygmy.

The Falcon II deflated when not loaded up, as you fill it it expands, the falcon is
25 liters and the pygmy is 23 liters, you will not see a huge difference.

One more thing to consider is organization, the Falcon II is perfect for all the smaller and bigger stuff...

How long have you worked for Maxpedition?

You make some good points in favor of the Falcon II. Sounds like a winner. Jeez, how many is that you have sold for them now?

That loop is to put all your zipper pulls threw and keep them locked down...

Maxpedition should pay me, I heard the owner is kind of a asswhile though and there customer service is not that great.
I personally have never had any issues with them but have heard alot of storys.

Not sure how many I have helped them sell but I just want to help guys out with a good pack, I've been threw alot of packs and ended up with
the falcon being my favorate for alot of different situations....

maybe he just slept at the holiday inn last night? :D falcon ii is indeed awesome. it's my day hike, mountain bike and get home bag. the only negative i've seen with it is it's not very comfortable when it's loaded to the max with gear and i'm pushing 27 lbs. but obviously that's true of any non-suspension pack really.

if flexxx wasn't chiming in in the pack threads, honestly i'd probably be the one doing it just as much. i can give you guys my employee discount...i kid, i kid. i don't work for them.

thanks, man!

That is a snap to where you lace the zippers through and then when you snap it it prevents the bag from opening or someone trying to pull open a zipper without you noticing. I think mainly to prevent the zipper from accidentally sliding open with a full pack.

edit: oops, I didn't refresh the page to see the question was answered.

.

I've been hearing this quite a bit during my last few hours of research. Customer service is a big deal to me and I don't like what I am hearing on that end. I stopped buying Cold Steel for a reason. For a $100+ backpack, I really don't want to have to deal with schmucks.
