What do you think? Will I be happy with the decision? Found a deal on them at XXXX. I figured I can't go wrong.

What do you think? Will I be happy with the decision? Found a deal on them at REI's outlet online. $20, minus a 20% off coupon. I figured I can't go wrong.

Excellent price, excellent Swiss Army Knife. Just about everybody on these forums who owns one praises it highly, and not a few consider it their main EDC. The only negative you are likely to hear is that the key ring extension can dig into the palm of your hand during hard use. True, but since I use the ring to clip the Farmer by dummy cord into my pocket, that is something I put up with, not enough of a nuisance to be a deal breaker. If it really bothers you, though, and you prefer to carry it unattached, a few minutes with a Dremel tool and problem solved.

Other than that, the Farmer is a perfect pocket companion; totally functional, tough, hand/pocket friendly (exception noted), compact, beautifully made. In the ongoing "if you could only have one" derby, I just can't decide, but the Farmer definitely makes the finals. Everybody should have one.

BTW, Don't miss out on the little blank engraving area. After a year of deliberation, I have finally settled on what I am going to have scribed on mine.

I've been carrying a Silver Alox Farmer for a while now, in my LF pocket next to my Blackberry. I've been trying to do a long term comparo with the utility of the Farmer (for me) vs. the LM Wave that rides on my belt.

The Farmer is very sturdy, as well as being pocketable. Though each of us is different, the Farmer does almost everything I could ask of a multitool. As a desk jockey, I have little need for the pliers and file that you get with the Wave, though the scissor is nice. I did use the plier to extract a CD from my failing CD player in my vehicle today, but my use of the plier is a rarity. But the Farmer is aesthetically pleasing, thin enough to pocket, sturdy enough to be tough, and has a nice selection of usable tools.

That REI price is good, and I ordered 2 blues and a red to go with the two I already have. Its a sickness.

The red alox is simply beautiful. That is a great price too! Congratulations on your purchase.

Here is my small collection:

Thanks for the positive feedback. I have to admit while I've had SAKs since I was VERY small boy, I'd for years and years taken them for granted. I seemed to have rediscovered their utility, looks (especially the aloxes) and affordability (especially this deal).

Lawlor69-- If you haven't already done so, you need to head on over to SOSAK. I don't like to recommend that you visit a different forum than this one, but if you're finding an interest in SAKs, you need to take a look.

Thanks, I just ordered one from REI too. Maybe I should have gotten one of each, as they have the red, silver and even blue available.

If you wanted to talk about a SAK Farmer you could do it in Multi-tools & Multi-purpose Knives, but since you're also talking about a dealer this has to go to TGB&U.

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

Deal spotting isn't allowed either.

First time I posted here and really enjoy this forum. I agree with what Lawlor69 said about revisiting saks. I've always had one since I was a boy and just recently started to EDC a Hiker. Really enjoy it. I had heard such poistive things about the Farmer so I just went to XXX sight and ordered the red and the blue. The nice surprise is when the order came up the red came up at $15.93 and the blue at $19.93, no doubt one of the best deals out there. Thanks for the tip Lawlor69
