Pumpkin carving party -- which knife!?

Use the 940! Clean it and use it again! Show the scratches and gunk with pride, get your money's worth out of what you have, while still keeping things nice. I'll probably use my 940 for my first pumpkin and if my RMD gets here in time I'll do a Swamp Rat combo carve with it and my Solution.
Use whatever you feel you'll have the most fun with, they're your tools.

FWIW the lady on the left (sue beatrice) recommends a simple birds beak paring knife that you can get for like 7 bucks at the grocery store

In MY opinion I'd use whichever of yours has the thinnest blade.

Those 2 carvings are Amazing!

You don't need a very long blade, of course. I'd probably use a PM2. If you want more length, the Benchmade 710 is very reasonably priced and has a long thin blade that can turn sharp corners in the pumpkin...likely better than a leaf-shaped Sage model.
