My wife and I returned from a vacation in Paris a few days ago. Whenever I go somewhere, i first check on the net which Spydercos are available in the area. After much searching I came across 3 shops that looked pretty well stocked, and i worked these destinations into our daily travel routine. (I had asked for advice here weeks ago and was looking at adding a Temperance and a Navigator to my collection).

Shop 1 was closed for August as it is holidays.
Shop 2 was in Ambriose, 200km from Paris, my mistake. Wife was prepared to go there, but it meant cutting a day off of the sight-seeing, so I said it was not what we came for and left it at that (nice guy?).
Shop 3 had just 4 Spydercos in stock; my lip was dragging.

That night, after supper and after having tucked my wife into bed, I walked a couple of blocks (you can do that there) to the nearest internet cafe and started searching afresh. After I found another 2 potential shops, I called it a night and went back to the hotel to find the street addresses on the maps I had.

Shop 4 was also closed for the holidays, so i didn't have much hope left.
Shop 5..... was OPEN!!!! I was there for about an hour. Eventually walked away with a Co-Pilot, Rookie G10 and a Blue Delica :D They also had, and this was not listed on the website, a Tim Zowada, Massad Ayoob, Jot Singh Kalsa and a Vesuvius. Prices were very similar to here in South Africa, but U.S. visitors would probably find it a bit expensive.

I was a happy chappy, and my wife was happy too cause I stopped crying about going home without a Spyderco :)

Very nice. Have fun with the new knives.

I would also be very happy to come home with 3 new Spydercos

Massad Ayoob and Jot Singh Kalsa would be worth spending the extra money on. :) Congratulations on your persistence!

At around $250 to $340 each for those top end models, it was just too much for me!

The vacation was nice all the same. I'm really happy with the Spydercos I brought back, but I have a few regrets that I could not afford any more. That Versuvius :foot:

Yes, I'd agree. US prices are much better. I'm in Europe this week too. I saw a couple shops that had Leatherman waves and such. At a 137 (1.6 dollar to the Euro) Euro for a Wave, I'll keep buying my stuff at home.
