Hi all, my first post after lurking for a while. I'm sorry, I'm not one to read instructions so I don't know if a introduction is required... I've been into knives since I was a teenager, as my taste and preferences have changed, I've bought, sold, traded, lost, broke a s$$tload of knives over the years. I whittled my collection down to just a dozen knives. My edc rotation, as of now consists of Umnumzaan, ZT 562, para2, CS code 4..... I was pretty much content with my collection until I discovered Shirogorov. I'm thinking, since I'm unable to control my lust there's probably going to be one in my collection at some point. From what I understand, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, there is only one US retailer, and the secondary market ( here being one of the them). My question is, has any bought a Shirogorov overseas? And if so, what country other than Russia? I do have family and friends who travel overseas, particularly in Europe. I'm thinking prices would be more reasonable. Thanks in advance.

I know nothing about purchasing Shiro's, but wanted to say welcome to BF. I'm sure help will be along soon. Of course they do pop up on the exchange here too. :)

Not sure if this is the right place for a question about purchasing knives, however, I can assure you that there are multiple reliable sources for new Shirogorovs here on BladeForums. Shoot me a PM or email for more info. I'll point you in the right direction.

Also, this thread has some great pics and info on Shirogorovs. They are truly fantastic knives. I love mine.

From my understanding, there is a waitlist. So would have to find one to buy. Then, you would have to bring it in, taking a chance on weather or not the airline agents and then customs here would know the laws, rules and then be honest.

You might could save some money doing that, then again you might lose it all. It's a chance you take.

A possibly more expensive route, yet safer route, would be to contact one of our BF sponsors who deal with them. They locate and purchase them in countries where they are sold and ship them here. Guys like VladimirK and russianwoodstock both can locate just about anything you want and have impeccable history and are well liked. I have dealt with both and am happy with them.

Vladimir_K is the way to go. I'd highly recommend contacting him. I've emailed the him about a particular knife and he was able to get it for me within a week. 3 out of the 4 Shirogorovs I've owned have come from him. Typical shipping time is 7-10 days from Russia to the US.

I didn't want you to think I was turning down your offer of help. I can't PM you, I did send you a visitors message. You probably didn't receive it, since I tried it with another member.

No worries. You should be able to send me an email. Try that. Otherwise, I'd pretty much recommend contacting Vladimir_k. He may not get back to you immediately but once you get a hold of him he should be able to get you whatever you're looking for. Aside from that, keep an eye on the secondary market. There are definitely some good deals that turn up occasionally.
