purchasing goretex?

You can't buy Gore-Tex as fabric and the company is fairly picky who they contract with. That's why you don't see crappy knock offs and generic Gore-Tex. I considered making some of my own gear a while back and learned I cannot. Now, E-Vent is the same, but might be more flexible than Gore-Tex. Call both companies and ask, couldn't hurt.
 
Goretex fabric can be bought. The limitation is in its width. I was thinking about making my own poncho.
