I called up K&G to order some. They had it one time 1" X .030" @ $18.00 @ lb. Now the sales rep said " that they are having a hard time getting in another shipment and the price may go up to $40 to $60 @ lb".:jerkit:
What sources do you Bubba's have???? HEHEHEHEHE!!!:D

George,
I think you know that I use quite a bit of nickel and I have been paying $50 per pound for almost a year. So don't let this be too much of a shock.
If you want a shock look at the current market price of platinium:eek:

Damascus Del!!!! Where do you purchase yours?????
Thanks Bro.

I happen to have a bit of 99.75 nickel. I got it as 4 inch pipe. I cut it in pieces and then flatten into bars. Would you be willing to trade a knife sized billet of chain damascus for some. I also have a plastic jar full of Sulzer Metco 19E self fluxing nickel base alloy powder for powder coating. They quit powder coating at work and I managed to salvage it. Anyone know what the story is on this stuff.

The nickel shortage and high price is due to a strike at a Canadian nickel mine, might have to start melting down some nickels.

Yep, nickel is going through the roof, it's not your supplier trying to screw you over. The explanation I've heard isn't anything about a Canadian mine, I've heard that it's being all bought up by one guy/company so the price is controlled. Something like that anyway.

I've heard the same thing as Larrin has heard, in fact it's alledged to be a Texas gentleman (not me, as if I were a gentleman). I think he's based in Ft. Worth.

I do not have any chain damascus in stock and what type of chain would you be looking for?????

Lucked out :D :D :D I had a student over and I was looking for some scrap pieces of Damascus to weld to WI so he could make jewelry out of it and I found a roll of nickel 5" wide and 1.25# that I only paid $22.50 for.  This will keep me going for awhile.:D
