Thanks John, only took three times until I ended up making a jig for grinding and I used a template from this site http://dcknives.blogspot.com/ lots of good information.

It sure came out a beauty!!Hitachi steel 8 in blade Cherry burl and Blackwood handle, saya is drying cuts like a dream.
Love the handle material, and I cut myself just looking at it!

Your photo inspired me to take that knife's damascus sister out to the garage and give it a proper sharpening. The crock sticks have been doing fine but I wanted something a bit shinier
. Oh, it cuts now.
