Push daggers in Florida

There is no special law on them in Florida. Generally they would be lumped under the term "dirk," which is an undefined term that can be applied to almost any offensively-designed fixed blade knife. If they fall under dirk, you can buy them, own them and carry them openly, but not carry concealed. Unless you have a "License to carry concealed weapon or firearm."

yep, what this gent said above.

only knife completely illegal in florida owned, concealed, or carried openly is a ballistic knife. everything else is legal to carry under state laws openly......with ccw permit everything else is legal to carry concealed. the exception to this is the city and counties you might live in or visit. some will have their own ordinances, which override state laws. so what is legal in the state to carry may not be in the city you work or live in or visit, etc, make sense?

this major oversight is being worked on to be corrected by knife rights and florida carry.

*as usual at the time i typed this it's true, but things change rapidly in laws with perceived "weapons" so down the road this may be untrue? i am not a lawyer, so always take what i write for what it is worth....basically nadda. always do your own research of the laws before you take a major risk and carry something that can get your rights stripped away for life.

I have a carry license but have recently been asked by a lot of coworkers who don't law questions that I can't answer, I have heard broad terms like, regular pocket knife is I imagine small, no grab flippers basically anything cool is a no no

But can u guys please help steer me to resources to protect my friends?

I'm trying to use the search feature and its so broad, do they have to keep it on belt or pocket clipped?

Thanks!

here you go......pocket knife case law......

http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cgi-bin/getcase.pl?court=US&navby=case&vol=000&invol=02-8636

covers....CLYDE TIMOTHY BUNKLEY v. FLORIDA

4" folding knife falls under "common pocket knife" which is not a weapon under florida state law....but that doesn't mean city and county can't say it is under their ordinances.

more important than florida state law is county and city ordinances. those you have to call your local sheriff office, city police chief, and the state police............ and ask your elected reps to send you detailed information. mind you, you'll likely be ignored or get bad information. my own county refers me to their website which has no ref, to anything knife in the ordinances under it's crappy search feature. i'll bet there is one, but i can't find it. sometimes i think it's done this way on purpose.:)
