I believe that the XC70 blades are tempered to about 53 HRc. Spring & pivot hold up fine. Don't do this with your knives, no matter how cheap they are. Boredom is a terrible thing:foot:

forgot to mention, the edge could still shave some arm hair after.

Thanks for this... I like to see other folk usin' douks, especially when it shows that such a cheap knife can perform relatively well under what many would consider abuse.

I'm reminded that I notched one of mine batonning through a few inches of sapling last year. I pressed/peened out some of the deformation, and then just ground it a bit. Still a bit crooked there, but she still cuts as well as I could need it to. :thumbup:
