Put Up Or Shut Up 2010?

Hey, thanks bro. That means alot. I really enjoy working leather. I cant wait to get some more work in. I have some ideas Id like to bring to life. Like an Etool cover.

I can totally respect people not into the bushcraft as much. There is many a way to enjoy the bush, and Im in no place to tell someone how to enjoy it for themselves.

You all suck! LOL!

Actually, congrats to all for getting out and doing more. unfortunately it was kind of a bust for me this year due to some medical issues with my wife. Nothing super major but enough to keep her out of work and me working crazy overtime. (Sorry, not trying to complain, just sayin')

Hopefully I'll be able to get out more this coming year. I'd really like to meet up with some of the good folks from here and another Bushcraft forum I belong to.

I doubt I will get out as much in 2011, as my Wife and I are expecting our second child in August!:):):)

Edit, I almost forgot to mention that with Rescue Rileys help I won the ESEEMega Survival Contest:cool::D

Tony, while the ESEE gear is awesome, the new addition you've been blessed with is even better. Congrats my friend. May our good Lord continue to smile upon you and your family.

I competed in a Pathfinder School Challenge consisting of:

- using a method of natural navigation
- building 5 primitive traps one of which must use natural cordage
- building an emergency shelter and spending the night in it
- building fire using primitive method
- boil water in primitive container
- emergency leg splint using all natural materials

Here is the video. It was a ton of fun :D

Horridus great video man!! congrats!

congrats tonym on the 2nd one! are you ready for butt wiping again!? :)

i have a few firsts ive learned this year...

made my first spoon
learned to make my first trap (oct skills challenge thanks to rescueriley)
got my first coal from friction fire (hand drill)
i learned i dont need the newest piece of gear or clothing and that i can get by quite easily with less....this ideology has helped me not stress on gear and focus more on skills.

didnt get much dirt time this year

Having had our second boy this year I would humbly say that I "Shut up" this year. I haven't been very active on the Wilderness forum mainly because I haven't had much of a chance to get out and spend some time on the trails. My trail time was limited to mountain biking and a few hikes here and there, oh - i did do the Tough Mudder early this year :) I'm proud of that. The second kid has proven to be a tough adjustment for the myright family. I'm hoping to spend more time out with the kids on the trail this coming year and putting the skills I'm attempting to learn on this site to good use.

Thanks again to all you guys that continue to post new and different ways of doing things and in a very well articulated manner. I love this site.

Here's to looking forward to me being more of a contributing member in 2011.

I hope you can get out more in the coming year man. I was out alot in the late summer through the fall. Ive been kinda takin a breather lately and enjoying the family, and focusing on some other things. Which is important too. Im getting ansy though, and I feel a winter overnighter coming in my near future.

I'm hoping to do a winter overnighter myself. It's been a LONG time since I did it. Back in Boy Scouts to be exact, hehe.

I wasn't around at the beginning of the year but I did have a great first and I spent way more on knives than I thought I would.

I took my oldest son on his first camping trip and my dad got to come too!

Yup - I think I'm going to get a quick overnighter in soon. It'll be at a camp ground at a park but it'll be empty this time of year so no biggee.

J what a great thread. It has made me reflect on the awesome year I have had.

I have been to 3 Meets with people from this and other forums. Meeting people with the same passion for the outdoors has been a reawakening for me.

Took my oldest boy on a canoe trip for a week in the BWCA.

I started my own Bushcraft school and taught 4 classes.

By the end of the year I will have 200,000 total views on my youtube. Thanks for watching.

I got over a dozen coals with a hand drill.

I hope to have a great next year also.

Thanks Terry. It was those youtube videos that gave me and many others a ton of info and new tricks. Your classes taught me a ton, and I had a great time hanging with you and the rest of the guys. I cant wait for more dirt time with you crazy guys in 2011. Hopefully you can help me polish up my land nav in the spring.

A dozen hand drill coals? Jeez man, thats an accomplishment!!

J Williams,

Thank you for bringing up this topic. I've been away from the boards lately working on my degree to become a H.S. Principal. I'm really impressed with all the accomplishments of the guys on here. It was a great year and it will only be better in 2011. Good work guys!

As for me, 2011 was a busy year. Taught another full summer of courses at the WLC, entered a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament and took 2nd, learned leathercraft from Marty Simon and now make all my own sheaths, holsters and leather accessories, traveled to Michigan to the mecca of knifemaking (Bark River Knife and Tool), started to learn about precision rifle shooting from Chris Ozolins and camped with the finest people in the world (I'll even include Tony M. in that list! Just kidding brother!)

I'll be watching the forums and posting here and there in 2011 but I still will be very busy with grad school and assorted training. I'll keep you guys posted when trips and seminars are taking place.

Again, great work guys. You put up!

My year really isn't much different from years past. I spend 90% of my time in my shop unless family calls first. I didn't hit the timber as much this year but hope to more in 2011. My event in Oct. is the highlight of the year for me. This year was awesome. The longest traveler was from Illinois. I'm looking forward to having more folks come out in 2011.
