Local gun shop and outdoor store has put out an E-mail advertising their first ever in-store knife show this coming weekend. This store has a very large knife department. They are having a few custom makers in attendance with their wares.

In their E-mail they have a picture of a stack of randomly arrayed knives, at least half of which were Busses. I correctly surmised that they had pulled a picture off the internet for their ad. In fact I am fairly sure I have seen the picture on this forum.

The knife dept manager told me yesterday that they have had quite a few calls because of that picture, from people excited that they might have Busses for sale. (I sold him a medium-sized Busse a few years ago, and he has high praise for it. If Busse had authorized retailers he would strive to be one.) He has proposed to me that I bring over a selection of Busses that I wish to sell and they will set me up with a table. He said they would price them however I wanted and add $50 per knife for their cut. He is certain that they can sell them.

The big problem for me is that "that I wish to sell" phrase. I don't really wish to sell any of them. My head says that, at age 72, I need to start divesting my collection. My heart screams "Nooooooooooo!"

Solid advice from Will.

If you have doubts now, those doubts will likely evolve into regret when one or more of your beloved Busse's get "divested."

......aaaaannnnnddd you know what we say around these parts....NO REGRETS!

But seriously, I don't think you'd be discussing this if you were firm on offloading your INFI.

I have a couple that will never go up on the Exchange unless worse comes to worse, I know that in my heart of hearts.

Aside from that, I B/S/T Busse & Kin all the time to get models in my hand that I've never felt the ergos before to see if it will work for me. Or I wanna see the way a handle looks in person....But when I move on, I move on. I've revisited a couple models, but they were fairly readily available and it wasn't a problem.

One thing for sure, you know we support your decision either way you go. :)

If you don't Need the money don't sell. i know you want to show off the collection and knowledge but not at the cost of loosing a knife.

Where is this? I have couple I could priority there by frFrid so they could have more stock

Go with your what your head says. At 72 you don't need the money since Social Security is making you fat and happy. You only have two hands, so you only NEED two knives. Before I make my offer, think back to how much your first car cost...now, I'll give you cool $100 per Busse. :D;) I know I'm crazy right? But I'm serious...$100 per.

You should test the theory out and price them RIDICULOUSLY high. If they sell, you can come clean out the exchange here. ;)

But seriously though, it sounds like you don’t want to sell them. If that’s the case, don’t do it!

I can see your logical side feeling pressure to liquidate some assets because of your age. But, if your collection still brings you joy, then you should keep it as long as it does.

Good Choice. A good friend of mine will never sell any of his Busses but he does leave them all with Hang Tags with prices/Values for whoever inherits his Coloection will have some idea about value/costs.
But like I said, he will never sell one.
