Imagine a Manix 2XL lightweight.

You the get the size and comfortably large grip of the XL but with light weight of something like an Endura. I'd want to keep the S30V blade, but like the regular Manix 2, if it means we go to BD1, so be it.

What do you guys think?
I'd love a nice big lightweight Manix.

I should add that with the longer blade but lighter weight, it could actually have a nice spot for a lightweight backpacker, and possibly even take the place of a light fixed blade like a Mora.
Maybe even make it with orange scales and a SE for boating types...

You guys really think that a Mora knife is good?

Wow you really must have some shit knives over there across the pond.

You are putting an expiration date on your time here. Straighten up.

@Everyone else

Please ignore this speed bump and continue on with the conversation.

I never even thought about this but an XL in frn would be great.
Even better if given all of the 3 steel options too.

I think a Manix2XLLW sounds like a great idea. I will take mine in 52100 with a safety orange frn handle. Woot woot, my new backpacking knife!

Officer,
There is a NativeXL in the works called the Shaman but it is contoured G10 and a compression lock. I think you may know that and are referring to a ShamanLW. If the Shaman ever gets the frn treatment it should be a big hit.

Interesting. Glad my idea is catching on! I thought maybe it was just the beer talking!

That's adorable. If you wanna crap on Mora, I think you may have found yourself in the wrong part of the internet.

Sounds like a Military to me :D

Really, this is a pretty killer idea. Would love some big trans-black scales.

EDIT: Can I have a BD-1 Manix Blade/shape on some Millie-esk digicam?

With the light handle and additional blade weight it might prove to be too unbalanced. The standard M2LW is already a bit nose heavy. The only way to know would be to build a prototype. If the geometry proved to be viable I might buy one, although I already have 2 of the M2XLs and I don't think they are too heavy.

I am a big fan of the Manix 2 XL, it's been my most often carried work knife since I got it in 2012.

I think your LW XL idea is a good one for sure.

BD1, well, if it has to be.
S30V, would be so much better IMO even if it adds to the price a bit.
S110V, oh yeh.

I admire the LW Manix for what it is but don't like the feel of the handle so much, the way I can squeeze the sides together. I know how strong it is, just don't enjoy the feel of it myself. Given the larger size of the XL I imagine the sides of a LW version would be a bit easier to squeeze together, so I don't know if I would get one.
Maybe I'm just too used the feel of my XL and standard Manix which feel utterly solid and strong as all get go.

But I reckon a lot of people would be into a LW XL in S110V.

Sounds like a great knife idea. Especially if we can get it with some cool colors.

The Mora knife is your very cheap basic knife but I guess that it offers good quality for that price point and I'm sorry if I upset anyone.

It's Eric's design. I'll bring it up to him.

sal

I'm so glad you think favorably of the idea.

You just let Eric know that if he needs someone to beta-test the prototype, I could probably be talked into it.

I too think the Shaman should be a hit. My wish however is for the lockback Native at about 3.5 to 3.75 inch blade length, and while we're at it, M4 blade steel. Given the trend of late, I'd imagine a S110V (probably in Burple) would be more likely. Talk about a fantastic working EDC, that would be it.
