I seem to recall a good tutorial on how to make a leather/wood sheath for a puukko, but darned if I can find it. Tried all sorts of searches on this and other forums. If anyone can point me to a good tutorial on the subject, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks Leatherman, great tutorials, but I still need one for a leather puukko sheath. I can't figure out how to do the side seam. Bump.

The tutorial referred to by Scruffuk, is very good and is exactly the same method I use when making scandinavian knives (which I dont do a lot anymore btw). Halftanned leather (has a rawhide core, and will get very hard when dried) is the preferred choise if you can get it, but a type of leather known in Scandinavia as "shaft" (dont know if its called the same in the US) will also work pretty well.

Good luck

Brian

Thank you Scruffuk! That is exactly what I have been looking for!

No worries folks.

I actually ususally use shaft leather and use shelak to harden it on the inside.
TBH once its soaked and hardened it does firm up nicely though.
