A local gun shop had two puukko type knives: MARTTIINI Finland and the other marked FISKARS Finland... hadn't previously seen one marked FISKARS. I don't know much about this type of knife. They both look like fillet knives... stainless blades... Both look like inexpensive knives though the leather sheath for the MARTTIINI is somewhat fancy... the FISKARS had a simpler sheath. Anyone know what steel was used on either of these knives? Are they worth owning?

Marttiini are very OK inexpensive knives in carbon or stainless. It's a Finnish Mora if you like and the sheathes are fine for an everyday knife. They retain the knife when you up end it, unlike a LOT of other more expensive knives.....part of the simplicity of the puukko!

Fiskars could be Gerber, they're the same company. Fiskars axes are alright and I see no reason why their fillet knives shouldn't be.

Regards, Will
