Puuko and Leuku recommendations

Just received a Marttiini Arctic Circle carbon puuko. Great little knife. Wicked sharp with a great point. Grind is off a little towards the tip. Nice sheath with plastic insert. Should make a great little neck knife.

I wanted to let you and everyone know, go to the Lapin Puukko site, it has some info on construction methods. I hate to be negative, but the way they put the handles on leaves a LOT to be desired-they drill the hole with a large drill bit, the size of the tang. You know where this is going. The handles are just glued on, and they aren't full-tang, the buttcap is put into place, but the tang does NOT go thru it, and certainly not riveted over it, as should be. I LOVE the "Leukupuukko 6", I literally JUST ordered one, about 15 min. before seeing the Lapin Puukko site, not what I wanted to see after spending almost $100! The Leukupuukko 6's shape is so traditional, the wide, fat blade with the rounded, blunt tip and the handle has the straight, parallel sides of the old, handmade ones. Just not the construction. From what I can tell, the Kauhavan Puukkopaja ones DO, every pic of every knife shows the tang riveted over the buttcap. Guess what brand Leuku I am going to buy next? Stromeng also are riveted over the buttcap, AND have a 9" bladed model!! Tough choice, hmm.

I recently got the Kellam "Wolfpack" and really like it so far. It has some bolster gaps, and I typically epoxy those just in case. I think it's easy and cheap preventive maintenance.

Anything Helle.
While not Finnish, Helle's are nice. Picked up this Viking in trade last weekend.

Laminate carbon blade with full stick tang peened over a diamond shaped washer at the butt of the curly birch handle.
