Hi guys,
Very wrong with me Mr. BUrbank he sold me an Halo V satin finish tanto blade not in Elmax but in a poor N690.
In your e- commerce site describe it with Elmax.
I know that Microtech use this steel too but i think Burbank must say me before selling that mine was in N690.
I'm very angry for this shit situation.

Manolo from Italy.

Hey Manolo,

Sorry that you had a bad experience with PVK. Josh wouldn't intentionally do something like this and they have a solid reputation.

From our experience, we've received several knives from Microtech and some would have different steels. The only way to know is to open every single box and look. Since Microtech boxes are glued closed, opening the box may tear the seal and this may anger some customers. Most retailers want to keep opening boxes to a minimum (for photo purposes) so that customers get a nice knife in a nice unopened package.

It's obviously not ideal that you are in Italy and I hope this can be resolved.

I've always felt I don't use knives to the full potential of the steel that is provided; it's like giving me the most accurate target pistol in the world, my aim will be accurately and consistently off target.

Hi
I'm angry because when i've asked him a partial reimbursed he said to me if i have had drink so much..we know perfectly that N690 it's lower than Elmax but Josh said no it' only a simple laser mark...are you kidding me?
In my opinion he has wanted sell this Halo V with poor N690 steel because i'm so far than him.
He has sent me 50 USD like a charity action and i've never asked him this...i'm sure he was kidding me..

Your post is hard to figure out. You ask for a partial refund, and you got it and you say it's a charity action? Microtech rarely uses the same steel for any length of time, which means if you see something you like in a steel you want, you jump right then and there. You ask what the steel is before purchase if you have any doubts. Did you ask for the steel type or was it an assumption that you would get ELMAX vs N690? No offense, but it sounds like you are assuming a lot on the other persons part without having any evidence to back it up.

When looking on some sites, Blade HQ comes to mind, they will state that Microtech will use different steels on the same model so it's impossible to list which steel you'll be getting.
Pretty sure I read that on Blade HQ's site.
Joe

Your situation is on microtech not the dealer. Some dealers don't even list the blade steel because microtech changes them so often .

In my experience with microtech the price stays the same regardless of the steel In production knives .If it's not what you wanted just return it and get what you want vs wanting a knife at a discount .

I know perfectly that Microtech use N690 but in Pvk Vegas my Halo V item 150-4 it was described with Elmax steel.
Josh can' say me that it' s the same steel compared Elmax..it's only a trade laser mark different type..what??
I don't wanna a discount knife, i like good knife and a i pay them no problem..but i wanna a knife like it was described on site e-commerce.
That's all.

I understand kind of are you using Google translate? Like I said though micro tech switches steels all the time a lot of their dealers won't list the steels for this reason .

I will say this though a lot if the companies that have a better heat treatment this includes microtech the differences in the steel aren't that noticeable .

It does seem like the newest runs of micro techs are in n690 though. I don't know if you know how micro tech makes knives but they make models in batches in whatever steel they get a good price with .

Seems like all of the halos right now are n690 . The batches before were Elmax but unless you find a dealer that had a knife from the last batch your probably out of luck.

I'm good friends with the knife guy at the largest microtech dealer in the us . Say the word and I'll give you the number and his name you'd haft to buy another knife but if there is an Elmax halo to be had they have it .

Josh is a good dealer . Steel mix up yes . Next time you will have to be more specific when ordering from any dealer . Because this could have been any one of the good dealers that sell Microtech. Getting a $50 credit was a bonus . If it bothers you just send it back .

Quite a few assumptions there my friend. Probably part language difference here, makes it more difficult to understand all your points. N690 is not a poor quality steel, and my guess is if it was marked elmax you would never know the difference. While I understand your point- yes you should get what was described. Microtech does change steels on one run to another and you never know until you open the box. You acting like the dealer did it all on purpose and trying to cheat you is absurd. Seems like you asked for a partial refund and he gave it to you, correct? Suggest you cool your jets a bit.

I inform you that I solved the unfortunate misunderstanding he had with Josh and I apologize publicly with him.
This is the explanatory tables worldwide on various American towards those steels.
Also Josh showed me a large production of between 2014 and 2015 with Halo V random production of blades at the discretion of Microtech.
It was my first purchase from Josh unfortunately not lucky and gone wrong cause misunderstandings and little my industry experience than Josh.
I hope you will excuse me I have subtracted time and possible inconvenience.
I confirm Josh is very helpful, friendly and prepared ... for this and especially that I subtracted to him, I intend to return the 50 USD he sent to me.

Good continuation and collection to all of you.

Manolo

The OP claims the knife was shown as Elmax on the vendor's site.
In your e- commerce site describe it with Elmax.
it was described with Elmax steel.

So I wonder what the story is now.

Mr. Linton is all ok now, I fixed the whole thing in its entirety thanks to the professionalism, patience and availability of Josh Burbank.
Mostly, it was a misunderstanding due to the different languages and my poor English, and my ignorance about certain trade policies of Microtech.
Thank you
Manolo

Fortunately, the issue is being resolved, but...... The real point of situation is another.. In my opinion, if to know which steel is made the blade, you always have to open the box, it's embarrassing... Absurd!! Why? It is obvious that this causes problems for customers and dealers.. I'm buying a 500/600$ knife, and i don't know what type of steel that is, until i open the box? But maybe this is a off-topic question..

IMHO if the knife is a user, N690 is just as good as ELMAX. While MT often changes materials without notice, the blade steel should have been marked on the box.
If your box says ELMAX and the knife is N690 then you certainly can't blame the dealer. I'm glad it all worked out.
