I don't care what people say about PVK or this post. PVK is bad news. Stay away from them. I'm sure they'll say I'm a newbie and that I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm not a newbie, and I've ordered plenty of knives. This is the worst experience I have ever had.
Hello All,
I just thought I should add a thread about my recent experience with PVKnife.com for anyone searching about this particular company. Before ordering from PVK, I searched here, but all of the threads were outdated. The general consensus of those threads was that PVK is very slow, but you will eventually get your knife.Well, now for an update. PVK may still be very slow, but nowdays, you may not get your knife at all.
I ordered a Black Spyderco Yojimbo from PVKnife. The knife was posted on the website as "in stock," but due to the fact that the Black Yojimbo is now discontinued, I wanted to be sure it truly was available. The next day I called and spoke with Josh, owner of PVK. He assured me that he did indeed have four Black Yojimbos in stock at that moment. He was very kind to me, and I placed my order with him right then and there. He told me that since I lived in the U.S., my order would ship USPS 2-3 day Priority Mail, and would go out within 24 hours. I said thank you and that was that.
Well, after one week, I sent Josh an email asking for an update and letting him know that I never received the knife. No response. The next day I did, the same thing. Again, no response. This went on for about a week, at the rate of one or two emails a day, always getting no response from PVK, and never having my Yojimbo show up in the mail. As well as emailing Josh, I had also been trying to call him. On my days off from work, I literally called this guy every 10 minutes all day long. No answer. It was like he had disappeared. Finally, after about a week of this, he happened to pick up the phone. I told him who I was and he remembered me, and he said he would check into my problem, but "his computer was down so he couldn't do it while I was on the phone." He said he would call me back. No return call was ever made.
A few days later I began calling and emailing again, this time emailing about 20 emails at a time to him. After about three and a half weeks, I got a reply that he checked and it had been shipped, but it didn't ship out until later, so he said I would get it by Friday (this was like a Tuesday when I heard this). Well, Friday came and went with no Yojimbo being delivered. I gave it till Monday, and emailed him again. Again, he assured me it was on the way and that he did ship it to me and I just needed to be patient. Again, he promised I would have it by Friday. Friday came and went, no Yojimbo, again.
So my credit card had been charged a month ago, and I still had no idea where my knife was. I was sick of the games, and I emailed him and told him that I had spoken with my credit card company, and I was going to dispute the charges if I didn't receive my knife within the next three days. The next day, I got an email saying he had refeunded my card. He had shipped his last black Yojimbo to a different customer who had placed his order online the day after I spoke with him and ordered on the phone. He said it was his only one. That was it, no apology. A month and a half of being promised it was on the way, and then "oops, I sold it to someone else."
Funny thing was, he told me he had four in stock, and mine would ship within 24 hours. Plus, I thought if I talked to him in person, it would go smoother than just ordering online. Guess not. In the end, he only had one, not four, and the person who placed their order online a day after my order got the knife. Very screwy.
Everyone knows the feeling of being promised a knife will be at your door on a certain day, and then coming home to find that knife and rip into the package to check it out. Well, PVK promises that knife, and you go home everyday for almost two months expecting it to be there, and it never shows.
