I am headed to PWYP in the morning and I hope to see some familiar faces ...... Will be out of the loop mostly until Monday........ Have a great weekend!!!!!!.....

You know Ethan I have to get out more. By that I mean out of the state. Took a week off work and the wife and I drove from Eugene to Tucson for a wedding.
It really tripped me out with how terranes varied and eventually ended in cactus. It really got me thinking on what I'd need to bring for camping, how I'd start a fire but mostly sustain it.

I'll have to get a list from you of some good places like this for me to go out see the world and gain some knowledge when I see you at the gathering.

Thanks for the encouragement, Guys.......

Hey abrasion..... Looking forward to a brain pick in a couple of weeks!!!!!.....

My 3 year old is preparing for his first gathering.

His 7 year old brother will be on another forum...

Have fun!!!

Take care and safe travels - I think we are all looking forward to the weekend..

Wish I could go. Sounds like a lot of fun & learning. They got beer right?

Ethan! for the love of ghods, take some pictures... wish i could go...

last one too right? dang.

pictures!

many pictures! :D

eat some meat for me!

Practice What You Preach... Actually a pretty good thing!

Boss, have fun! Make sure you take some pictures, or at least THINK of taking a picture or two!

AIG posted up some pics on Instagram of Uncle E making pancakes and bacon. Wish I could have been there.

Ethan was there,I can attest to that.

I did NOT get to share in their campfire eats as I was escorting the wife and she is NOT an outdoorswoman --- but she went and that was ok with me.

I am sorry I missed out on the "swamp" as the area that is camped with all those that know Ethan is called.

PWYP is over in the south, and I will miss that as they were amazing times.

NEVER laughed as hard as last year when crazy Dave came out of his tent in a kilt ----- and a few blades, and NOTHING more !!!.

Godspeed - safe travels.

Looking forward to your place in May.

PWYP was a blast and, as usual, the eats Ethan put together were awesome! As some called it... "How to survive in the wilderness on 6000 calories per day". Ha!

I listened to the Knife Journal Podcast from PWYP. My google screens are maxed out with searches. Sounds like everyone had a blast!

What a grand time......... Gene Boyd, his friend Dave McIntyre, Dave Skomra, Jim Nowka, Dave's son in law Jeremy, Dr. Kyle(AIG) a couple of Jeremy's buds and meself constituted our fire this year.... 'Twas a bit chilly but, it made. the fire feel good...... Nowka brought some truly fine home cooked maple syrup which I could drink by the glass.

Dave MciIntyre brought one of his beautifully modified Tramontina machetes..... Mind you I have seen a lot of modded machetes but Dave's mods are so very well thought out that I think they are worthy of careful study.......you tube.... Dave teaches survival skills in Brazil ...... He strikes me as a good teacher and very knowledgeable as well as being a good sort....

Joe Flowers brought his new design done by TOPS and, to my great delight, it had excellent edge geometry....Nowka is brimming over with new knife projects....... Dr. Kyle is moving to the wilderness of Northern Michigan and he and Nowka will, I am sure, be scheming new and wondrous schemes together......

I induced a couple of people to try out the RBK proto I had with me and got some very positive feedback...YAY!!!!!!.....

It was a very good time, indeed, the best of times, with some very fine people....... I am gonna miss PWYP, a lot.....

Ethan

P.S....... The best thing about this year's PWYP was the absence of Skomra's effing kilt..... Trust me ...there is no eye bleach strong enough to erase THAT particular image........ E
