I'm looking for a website, or contact information, for a maker whose last name is Pyrothress, I'm pretty sure. Something like that. I can't remember his first name, but he was at the SE Custom Knife Show this past weekend.

Thanks in advance.

John's folder work has come along tremendously. If I'm not mistaken, he took Darrel Ralph's folder class at Montgomery Community College last year. One of his folders was a prize in the SECKS raffle this weekend. He brought a large folder with carbon fiber handles, curved titanium bolsters, and a hand-rubbed ATS-34 blade by our table on Sunday. The fit and finish was outstanding. I especially liked the curved bolsters - nice touch. The action was extremely smooth. It was an impressive package.

Some examples of his work can be seen on Terrill Hoffman's PhotoPoint site.

His contact (with e-mail) info can be found on the NC Custom Knifemakers Guild website.

Thanks guys. Yes, I was there, Endura Duck. Sorry I must have missed you. I was hanging around Senator's table for about 15 minutes, but was pressed for time and wanted to see more of the show. As it was, I just got to see everything before being pulled away to go to High Point with my wife to buy furniture. Great bunch of guys there at the table, that's for sure. David, CPR, Dexter, Blades... forgive me if I miss someone... I was pretty wide eyed there, like a kid in a candy store.

I saw John's folders; they were neat as h***. But what really tripped my trigger later, the more I thought about it, was the claw/talon type fixed blades that he had there. As I was walking around High Point, I kept thinking about those two. And one Talonite Wharncliffe that someone had there from Simonich.... and several knives that I saw from several makers with Giraffe bone scales. Anyone know how that material holds up?

Nice meeting you Senator... sorry I couldn't hang out longer, but family duty called. Nice work on your first knife!

Rockspyder: I Picked up two knives from geno dennings at the show ..

One was a Model-B with Giraffe scales..But I will never be able to review the knife as it will never leave its zipper pouch in my safe..

The other was a Model-C with Stag..I bought this as my user...

There are pics of my B model in the blade discussion forum now..

I'm there! GREAT pics! And awesome knife. Interesting... I was looking at that very knife, if it was the one he was actually wearing on his hip, while waiting to look at his table. Unfortunately, there were so many people there at the time, I couldn't get in too close. And I didn't have the time to go back later. Oh well... hopefully some of these guys will be at the Timonium show, because I think I'm gonna HAVE to be there.

I can claim I brought home the most knives from the show. But the bad news is that I have to send them back after I take photographs of them.

I just taught a scale release automatic class a few weeks ago at Montgomery College and had John in the class. I was impressed with his work. Especially his satin finishes. He was a star student. I guessed he would be the first one in the class to get an auto put together. He just called me and said he's about got one finished.

John's biggest fault is his modesty. He had his newest knife (scale release) at the show and allowed me to play with it. He just had a few fine finishing touches to put on it before it would ready. I would of been happy with it as it was. After it is done I'm going to talk him into photos of it just so I can play with it a little more.

He was showing me that same knife. He had it kinda hidden on the back of the table, underneath some stuff. Pulls it out and shows it to me, saying that it needed some finishing. And I'm thinking, "Where?!" It looked perfect to me!
