Don't count on that.
Anybody who posts a 2022 forum knife thread is going to have it shut down real quick.

We will not again let the Traditional Forum disintegrate as it did this year.

Lets hope not. Would be a shame.
I was just expressing my thoughts because of the way I saw some folks behaving this year, like calling new members out in an open forum. These things could have been done back channel via PM's with mods, etc.

It's a reference to a Coen brothers film, "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs." If you've seen the movie it's really pretty funny (that guy is hung over and over, like a morbid "Groundhog's Day") but if you don't know the reference yeah it's going to seem a bit harsh.
Never heard of this film, so yeah, seems a tad over the line to me personally.

I figured as much from your comment, which is why I bothered to explain the reference. In context, there was no offense intended with the original post, but "a tad over the line" is a good way to describe most of the Coen brothers' movies :)

Keep it civil folks! And yes, this thread was an example of what we don't want In this sub-forum.
As soon as it seems appropriate it's going to get closed. I think that might be fast approaching.

sitflyer sitflyer ~ I’m not sure how to answer this.
Sorry I hurt your feeling, but not sorry for pointing out that your suggestion gets made every year.
All that annoys me as well, but I try not to follow all the acrimony and bickering ~ not my job.
But throwing the baby out with the bath water because a small minority of people get wound up?
And then there’s the universality in your suggestion.

So, apparently, it's AOK to post a GIF about a hanging because you didn't like my post,

Thank you for affirming my distaste with this years Trad. forum knife discussions. I feel that that post was in poor taste and offensive. What say ye Spark Spark

I understand how the GIF could seem inappropriate when seen out of context, if one isn't familiar with its use as a popular internet meme.

From the "Know Your Meme" web site:
"James Franco "First time?" refers to a memorable quote by an unnamed cowboy character on the gallows in the 2018 western film The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, as portrayed by American actor James Franco. Since the film's release in November 2018, a screen-captured image of the scene has been used in image macros as the punchline to jokes about one's inexperience usually to emphasize an uncommon or ridiculous occurrence in normal society that has become a regular occurance in a community."

I'm glad you posted that, it's a better explanation of when & why that meme gets used than I was able to convey 👍🏻

I've been told that I'm plain spoken/blunt spoken and so's there's no doubt, it's been verified by knarfeng knarfeng - so, I'll just say it flat out. There's just too much BS going on here. Just my opinion, but some of the comments and insults whether real or perceived have sunk us to a new low for this years BF knife.

Fellow forumites.

Please, please, please relax the negativity. Try to appreciate what we have here, and understand that as diverse as the internet is, mixed signals are bound to occur.

The BF knife is a privilege, but not worth losing friendships over.

I would much prefer we continue the tradition, but nurture the process rather than neuter it.
