Q for Jeff: Junglee TDC Jr. vs. Cold Steel SRK

Jeff, I've read through your field evaluations of both of these knives, but I still have a couple questions.

First, you said the Junglee Tactical Drop Clip Jr. passed your DEET test, but no mention in the SRK review of such a test. Did the SRK's kraton handle survive the DEET test as well? (If the Junglee's handle is kraton also, then I wouldn't need to ask this question, but I have no idea what material its handle is, and I have heard in other forums that Cold Steel's kraton has problems with DEET.)

Second question: These two knives appear to be very similar. Does one edge out the other (no pun intended), and if so, which do you prefer, between the two, and why so?

Thanks for your time, Jeff. I know it's not like you're just sitting around bored all day long waiting to answer yet another survival question. If you've already answered these questions before, please refer me to the proper thread and I apologize--I did a search on "SRK" but I never found any info on a direct comparison between it and the Junglee Tactical Jr.

Thanks.

"President Clinton learned there were 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado. Since Clinton was so upset with ranchers' protests over his grazing policies, he told U.S. Secretary of Interior Bruce Babbitt to fire half the cattle guards immediately. Before Babbitt could proceed with the President's wishes, Colorado representative Pat Schroeder intervened with a request that before any were fired, they would be given six months of retraining."

The SRK's handle did react to 100 percent DEET but the Junglee's handle did not....go figure.

I like the edge on the Junglee better than the SRK for sharpness and quick ability to bring it back keen, but the SRK seems tougher.

Either blade gets a thumbs up from me.

Jeff, I wasn't sure where Gallant was. That's not too far outside my AO.

I might just have to come down there and take a course or two. I have Army Airborne school under my belt (5-jump chump), so of course I would love to go with you to the Peruvian AF survival school and jump with Group 42, but not sure if I'll be able to. It would definitely be fun, though.

Excuse me! Your AO? This is my AO, we just let you North Alabama folks reside there

In all seriousness, drop me an email and I'll give you a phone number and we can hook up some weekend....and of course anytime you get ready to head south with us we would be glad to have you along. If you can't make the March trip then consider living dangerously and go along with us in June. We're doing a 2 week survival school in the jungles of Colombia along the Putumayo River, so get your kidnap insurance and flak jacket and come on down.
