Q: Spyderco history and advertisement

Hi together

could anyone please help with this questions :D

Which year started Spyderco selling over here in europe?

My doughter was born in 1992 and i`m sure i had my new Endura in my pocket that day,
but the first spyderco-catalog i have from a german dealer is from 1995.
The german dealer was "INTER WA" Düsseldorf.

So i think i bought my first Endura here in germany in 1992 or 1991??

Sorry but my problem is i bought so many Spydercos that days because everytime i had a new one a member of my family or a coworker saw it and wanted it and i had to buy a new one. (Now i`m older and learned to say NO)


Second question:

Can anyone remember a spyderco advertisement from that old days like :

>>> Carry one of our knives in your pocket for a week .....
....
...

and then try to walk without it <<<<<


I searched my gunmagazines from the 80s but cannot find.

The Endura and Delica were introduced to the world in 1991. As far as the Spyderco challenge-"carry a spyderco for a month and then try going without it," I do remember that very well, but I'm not sure when it originated. I seem to recall it being associated with either the Dragonfly or Delica model. Hopefully Paul (Deacon) will be along shortly with the accurate details. Good luck, and sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi Bigbore,

I began going to the IWA Show in 1988. Our knives in Germany were referred to as "new fashion knives" because they had no stag in the handle, and were "self opening".

i saw you at the IWA !

I had some Spydercos so maybe it was the mid 90`s ,
but it was my first IWA and i knew nothing about you,
and i saw a gentle man with grey hear at the Spyderco exebition who sharpened knifes for customers (or everyone ? ) :D

Later when i got internet and saw pics of you i learned who this nice gentlemen is.
 
Got my first Endura in 1992. After a few years of trying other brands I went back to my first love. Have not bought any other brand for 4 years now. Recently traded several Benchmades for Spydercos.
 
Hi, my first was a Police Stainless Serrated, bought in Brussels, Belgium in 1989.
