QC dissapointment

In the link I referenced, the poster calls it a back spring. You can see fromthe pics halfway down the page they are straight, smooth, and well aligned.

As I said it's just the angle of the picture I'm sure. If you took the picture looking straight down over the top of the knife it would appear straight and even.

thaeffman,

You might strongly consider sending that back. Check this post: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/988278-Caly-3-5-comparison

Pay no attention to the SuperBlue blade, the owner chemically forced the patina. But the QC on those knives are what yours should be like.

I don't have any pics that show it well, but my Caly 3.5 CF ZDP is pretty much textbook perfect. For $140 it's what I expected. My Delicas and Enduras look better than yours. So does my $29 Buck 110.

You said you were satisfied, but your lock spine is way off center. Was it like that before you removed the blade?

That's my thread, and I already said all four of mine (picked up another CF since then) are exactly like the OP's.

Yeah, its just the angle of the picture that makes it seem that way. In any case Im happy with the knife, the more I use it the less I care about any of its little faults

That's good, the picture made it look pretty bad.

At first, I didn't want to use mine because the 420J2 steel covering the ZDP-189 was so shiny and pretty. Also, many posters had said it scratches easy. But every time I picked it up, I didn't care much about looks, I just wanted to use it. Now it's my favorite EDC.

By the way, I do have astigmatism. Maybe that made the picture look bad to me.:D

I'm sure there is some illusion, but I can't get mine to look anything like that.
I don't have that gap on the left side either.

did you notice that the picture shows the part of the locking arm that's usually inside the handle ? the blade is removed and the lockbar is turned uspide down showing the hidden side.

Yes, they did that pretty much the first day...

Although I agree with that statement, my first two knives from Taiwan, first run Sage 1 and first run Sage 2, did require replacing due to finish issues. Since then, every knife from Taiwan has been near perfect. Pretty amazing.

I did buy this knife as a user so its not the end of the world but this just reinforces my belief that Taichung has overtaken Seki City as Spyderco's best foreign manufacturer

My observations exactly. I would just buy Taichung models from now on and forget about the Seki and Golden ones until they improve.
