I'm knew here, considering making a sword, will probably test this on smaller knife first.

I'm wondering if there is a way to way to color a damascus steel knife blood red or somewhat close enough, not copper red, but a deep red, wine or blood red preferably.

Man of few words ha.

Op- steel wont turn the color you want from any chemical or oxidation besides letting it rust or forging temp. Can do a copper acid wash. Or a titanium sword anodized but itll be pinkish.

I thought of copper acid washing but figured it would be to brownish red, maybe I should increase the amount of copper and and experiment with acid washing other elements in.

Or Forge tempering it red? I'll try it out with some cheap knives I bought years ago, don't want to ruin a sword.

Really the only way to get blood red on Damascus would be to do a deep etch then send out for Ceracoat and polish out the high spots with abrasives.

Thank you, I'll be testing this out on small knives, both non damascus and damascus, and see what results I get.

This seems to be the best possible method I heard, well with the least risk of coming out Brown and closer to a true blood red.
