Quality Blanks?

Complete newbie here. Would like some recommendation on where to get quality fixed blade knifes. I enjoy working with wood and would like to make some custom hunting knives for myself, hobby only. But I do not want to put in the time and effort on the handle and not have it on a quality blade. Have searched online and found places that advertise 440c but still not sure if I'm buying quality or not. I don't mind spending extra $, just would like to know I'm getting something good. Appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks

Nick Wheeler! He's here on the forum. Check out his video showing the quality he puts into his blade blanks

Gene Martin makes a nice blank. I'm not sure what all he uses, but I know d2 is in his catalog. His wife's mosaic pins are excellent too.

Jen/ Bill at backwoods custom knives offer some beautiful blanks to work with. See their knives in the fixed blades section of the knifemakers for sale area

If you have a design and type of steel in mind you can contact any number of makers to price out having it made for you. You could try your hand at cutlery by putting on your custom handle. The high end blades sold by a number of different companies are good. But you are limited to the designs they sell and the steel choices that they have available. Just a rough estimate but a custom made bade will set you back 2x or more over a quality mass produced blade.

When Nick has blanks up for sale they are very nice indeed.

When I first started out I got a couple of blades from Gene Martin and they were very good quality as well. You can order from his website. His wife makes excellent mozaic pins as well.

Thanks I will check out Gene Martin and Bill at backwoods custom knives.
Didn't see any for sale at the moment by Nick Wheeler.
Which company's mass produces high end blanks?
Thanks for the help.
