Is everyone busses asymmetrical everywhere you look or just the 2 I've gotten.

Busse seems to suck at making things look good. no doubt these blades will stand the test of time but why is my grind uneaven/crooked, why are my fullers 2 different sizes, why did they forget to put a finish in certain areas, whats going on with the tip. Then they offer to fix them but its not like they fix their quality control issues.

Still incredible knives but I don't get how some of this is acceptable for them. I feel a bit cheated.

Assymetrical grinds are a thing of the past. I got a Busse used once that I immediately reprofiled 20 dps not knowing its significance.

My last 3 Busse kins have been amongst, if not the sharpest Busses I have ever received. The fit and finish is good enough IMO for user grade knives. I haven't bought any Custom Shop pieces which should have a higher level of finish.

Maybe you can help me with some else though, I just read something saying busse purposely does asymmetrical grinds. Is there any truth to that?
They used to, but not anymore to my knowledge. Just what are these “defects” you are nitpicking on your expensive combat knife?

Is it not flawless enough to hold down your hanky for instagram pocket dumps? 😀

In all seriousness, Busse knives may not be for you. They aren’t flawlessly finished or evenly ground sometimes. But they are damn well functional and excel in their usage.

If being asymmetrical is a company trade mark then cool, I'll learn to get over it. I just don't see why so many people refuse to acknowledge busses lack of standards and then make excuses because of performance.

I did pay half a grand for it and if you're okay with imperfections for that amount then I wish I was you.

Like I said, what are these “defects” you are nitpicking? The edge is ground a little higher on one side? Or is it truly “asymmetrical”? I’m betting not. They’re ground by hand - I want to see how horrible this is. Post pics.

Nobody is making excuses for Busse’s lack of standards. They have high manufacturing standards and nearly every knife made by them that I’ve owned has met them. Don’t want to jump the gun here, so post pics.

Oh, I’ve paid half a grand (and much more) on many a Busse (and kin) and will continue to do so. 🤣 Didn’t find any “defects” on any but one and that was corrected by sending it in to the shop. Post pics.

This is definitely some weird power game to you but I guess I'll feed.

Yes the edge is ground higher on one side, I'd like to know more about it if it's intentional. This obviously leads to the point not being centered.

And they seem to have messed up my comp finish but luckily it's just under the guard so it doesn't really bother me.

Sorry no pics, I can't figure this shit out

Do you plan on using it? If so, neither of those things will stick around. It does sound like most Busse knives and they even state on the website that scratches/ marks from machining process may still be on the blade. Unless it's a custom shop they are rarely "perfect" but it doesn't affect resale from my experience. Hope you use it and find out why Busses are so highly regarded, imperfect finishes and all.

I don't care about machining marks, they warn you. I do plan on using this knife heavily and I know it will do any job I need it to. I'm just being a ocd maniac about certain things, mainly the weird grind job

Power game? No, my friend. How do you figure that?

Post pics or (you know the rest). It ain’t that complicated. In fact, here’s a tutorial to help you:

This is what I do, and it’s dead easy. Go to this website and make an account: https://postimages.org/

Upload your photos. There’s a huge button for this, can’t miss it.

Once your photos are uploaded, click on the one you want to post. Click “share” in the top left corner.

Click on the “hotlink for forums” code and copy it:

On your post here, paste the code you copied and hit post.

Voila, da photoz.

It’s not complicated. Post pics.

Pics are needed

Even easier than the above instructions if you just take a pic with your phone and in the app just tap the picture icon and choose the pic. Viola. But maybe you need a paying membership. Can't remember.

Couple of things, you came into Busse’s house and first sentence complain about how Busse’s suck and rife with cosmetic defects.

People will be offended.

Take some time, read, enjoy the forum. There’s plenty of people that will help with any issue you have with your knife, mainly Jerry Busse.

Email him directly.

I know it’s easy to engage in internet arguments, but I highly encourage folks not to. There are better ways to get what you want.

Pictures are worth more and more valuable than opinions. There are great tutorials on how to post pictures. But I’d encourage you to contact Busse first.

As these are tools, they are meant to be used. Should they be pretty….that’s a matter of opinion. Should they be functional, absolutely and are among the best out here.

So, sit back, read, enjoy the forum.

I reprofile new knives on the regular. Some come 20 dps and I want 15, some come like butter knives...

I have a lot of Busses and the Battle Cry and Galley Rat are so sharp I was thinking yesterday, while using them, that Busse and kin must have either changed their sharpening process or whoever is doing it now is A+.

Busse's price, options, guarantees and wait times are killer in the industry. IMO if you want more you gotta move up a price class.
