Due to circumstances beyond my control I am very disappointed in the QUALITY CONTROL that is coming out of the SHOP in Nepal. As you know father is here from Nepal and we are doing every thing we can to correct this problem by phone. However, HI has and always will guaranteed their blade. I very much appreciate your patience and understanding in this situation. Unfortunately, these kinds of problems happen to the people in business and we do very best we can to take care of our loyal customers like you. Thank you

Dear Yangdu
I will always be one of your loyal customers and I will trust you will take care of whatever you have to do to ensure the quality of HI products is never compromised.
In business we have to rely on other people and being so far away from Nepal must make it especially hard for you to oversee the Kamis you have working for you.
Nevertheless the name of HI will always be synonymous with quality!
And I say again you will always have my personal support.
God bless Yangdu and your father too.
Greetings from the Uk

You would be hard pressed to find any company in any buisness that takes as good care of its coustomers as Yangdu does. I mean, a life time guarantee, no planed obselecence here.

We all appreciate the hard work you do on our behalf Yangdu. Thank you.

I hope that when I finally get to test my blades they're all okay regarding quality control issues. If not, even though DOTD, they're waranteed, correct?

Yangdu you'll have no worries from me about your products. The only things that makes me sad is deciding what to buy next and how am I going to explain it to my wife. Honestly I have to come up with another excuse, I think the "it's a great kitchen knife" has worn a little thin.

Yangdu, just wanted to say that the Kobra I received last month is equal to or even better than the quality of those I purchased over 2 years ago. It is just an outstanding khukuri of perfect quality.

The problem with the museum models was due to an unfamiliar construction, that's all. ;) And a chipped edge here and there is no big deal.

The knives have never been better, in my opinion, and all the new models are making even long-time collectors go crazy trying to keep up. And I was very pleased to finally get one of the "Rusty Sgian Dubhs" today.

Many thanks and no worries, ma'am. :D

yangdu, i am more than satisfied with every single khukuri i have received from HI. i am even more amazed at the level of customer service you provide even backing up knives with a life time waranty. you have a loyal HI customer right here... no complaints from me

infact! im surprised blades made by hand in one of the poorest countries in the world can stand up to so much abuse!!! truly amazing

EDIT: i guess i do have one complaint... DOTD's!!!! they are killing me... i cant stop buying. :D

Ditto. My only complaint is that I can't get that darn foxy folly out of my head. Put me out of my misery with some more dotd's. Thanks Yangdu (and dad).

how can yangdu have quality issues, when a kukri with a slight scratch on the sheath goes in the blem box? im saying, that their quality is THAT good- they will always be at the top of the kukri game, you know i mean it!

My loyalty to Himalayan Imports will never waver. I am hooked for life.

Thanks for all the wonderful knives and service Yangdu.

Yangdu, I've always been very satisfied with the quality of Himalayan Imports blades, and the customer service is second to none.

Uncle Bill always stressed the importance of testing user blades pretty heavily (and carefully) before use, and I think it's still a good idea.

This too shall pass. We've had spates of failures in the past too, it's a cyclical thing, probably related to the tides or something. I blame El Nino (I blame everything on El Nino). ;) The constant thing here, with good blades and bad, is that HI will make the situation right. We all know that and trust you, so don't sweat it.

Everything takes time.

The institution of a formal QC program may not be easy. At least the foreman overseeing the testing has to have good knowledge of what to look for and how to test. This probably means an experienced older kami. He may even need initial coaching and observation by Kami Sherpa. However, once you have a good man in the position and he understands both what he needs to do and how important it is to HI, I think things will go well.

I think we might have some QC people here on the forum who may be able to contribute advice on initiating a program.

Yangdu, I just received the R-1 Stick Knife and the knife appears flawless. I am sure this brute will prove to be very durable as well. Some quality control problems are inevitable in any business but we are reassured by your high standards and guarantee. We wish you the best in resolving any issues to your satisfaction.

it's possible that Yangdu is holding back the ones that have qc problems... I don't know.

All I know is, I wouldn't want to be on the other end of the line when she calls. A lot rides on the quality...the kami's MUST be made to understand that.

Bad timing, poor finances have prevented me from participating in the dotd frenzies, but I still wouldn't hesitate an instant today if the right blade came up at the right time. I know HI will stand behind it.

They've said what needed to be said Yangdu. Imagine how few companies would make the post you've made. By making you show that you are determined to fix what you see as a quality issue. We all appreciate that, and I personally have never dealt with a company that would have done so.

Thank You, and no worries. Enjoy your father. Life is short.

Namaste.

I only just bought my first Khukuri today, but I'm not worried about the quality of it at all. From what I've read Yangdu you will make it right if there are any problems :)
I consider buying from HI as zero risk when it comes to quality.

Yangdu, I have never recieved a knife from you that was anything less than spectacular. That, plus your guarantee, is all I need to become a dedicated customer. Thank you for your amazing work, and I wish you luck in this. It will work out.
