Quality Control

Don't sweat it, Yangdu:) QC issues, like you said, are just part of a small business. I'm behind HI 100%. I have to say that the blades have never looked better, IMHO. I've been toting around an R-6 for the last couple of weeks. Dil's work is wonderful. The grind is perfect, the edge is straight, and an etch shows that it's hardened just right. I've put some weight on it and I think it would have no problem popping a car door off the frame;)

Yangdu, you have me as a supporter of your business, your product and the kamis in the shops. Your service and comitment to your coustomer is without question, a bench mark for other small businesses to strive for.

That being said.

What are the consequences kamis and other craftsmen face in regard to the non-conformance to quality standards implemented by the shop manager and or business owner?

If it is human error-Reduction of title or responsibilities (floor sweeper or gofer duties), given less work or projects, major ass chewing? Are they allowed x amount of occurrences per year? Or so many handle failures and so many blade failures.

If it is material- Does the shop foreman track these to determine and eliminate root cause? Poor quality base material from a particular scrap yard, poor quality wood from poor growing conditions or curing control.

I don’t mean to pry if this is a private matter, yet I am simply curious as to how these issues are addressed in the work shops that produce the product that I plan on spending hundreds more, if not thousands, of my future dollars on.

I don’t mean to come across as critical or an a$$ hole, but it would not be the first time i unintentionally came across as an a$$ .

I hope that this quality improvement crack down does not mean a reduction on Blem sales;) How I enjoy those Blem sales/deals.

Yangdu,
We trust you and Pala completely.

Thank you,

Steve Ferguson

What Steve said! What other company would even suggest that there might be sometime problems?

We're here Yangdu, so don't be concerned. We know you and Pala will get things back to 110%.

Best,

Norm

You know...a QC problem every now and then (so long as it is not to frequent) might be good for the company. Once they are caught it gets people back on track and the craftsmen pay even more attention to details that may of gone unnoticed before. The end product can only be better with this higher attention to detail.

No worries here though, I know Yangdu and Pala will make things right.

With my last buy I now have 90 HI products. I have returned one ( a blade that had twisted) and it was replaced without question. What other company has that track record? none that ihave ever bought from, just think if your car company or computer maker was 1/2 that good.

Delightful, warm and human surprise to hear from the Owner.
Just when I think I've heard it all Yangdu does something a friend would do- just like Bill Martino.

You know, the recent examination has obscured the experience of the last two years- when everything took a great leap up and foreward.

I have show three HI products to a custom knifemaker who works to incredibly high standards himself and he is amazed by the quality of HI kukris and knives. You can pass on his and my compliments to your father and brother.
