Quality for the money

Benchmade’s warranty justifies the higher pricing for people that favor their designs. There aren’t many companies that’ll just flat out replace a blade for you for a flat fee.
If you’re going to use it until it breaks and buy another, Kershaw is great. If you want to go down the rabbit hole to some of the best America has to offer and you like a great warranty, Benchmade’s cost will be justified.
There’s a reason the 940 series, griptilians, mini grips, mini crooked river, among others are revered and have a cult-like following... but the Kershaw leek and skyline have a strong following too.
As with all things, you get what you pay for.

Take a look @ Hogue's automatic offerings. USA Made quality product at a reasonable price.

To me the price difference between a Kershaw and Benchmade is very warranted. Both assisted and automatic.
For autos: I like the Launch series, but I don't think I'd chose any over an Auto Benchmade like the AFO, Ruckus, Presidio, or Bedlam. The overall quality shows.
If you are willing to look at other brands it is definitely worth checking out Pro Tech. They specialize in high quality autos that won't break the bank. Step up your price point to $300 and you are in Microtech territory. Which is absolutely worth a look especially if you are considering an OTF. Benchmade's OTFs are way overpriced for what they are.

For assisted: It is far simpler. As a mechanism, the Kershaw torsion bar is far more prone to breaking than Benchmade's Axis Assist. I have had quite a few of those bars go on me, and never had an issue with the BM springs.
To tell the truth though, I find it a bit of a waste to have an assist on an Axis lock. Part of the joy of an Axis is the ability to flick it closed as fast as you can flick it open. Which is why I always wound up de-assisting my Benchmade AOs after awhile

As much as I would prefer Benchmade All that being said, Kershaw is still damn good considering what you pay for.

The Protech TR3 is easily one of the best autos of all time. Most outside of protech and microtech dont snap quite as well and dont have that quality.

The models you are considering would be a.little more helpful so one could really give.you an idea.in the style you want! Aside from that, Protech are solid knives! Piranha are great too! Microtech are solid too! Benchmade is good. Me personally, I'd look into a double action!! That way you can open it conventionally around frady cats and schwing it open when necessary!!
