Quality issue, is it so hard to get the basics right?

Here a Floridian banana spider, the flipping things are everywhere

Nice!

We get these all the time in Florida too. I'm about 95% sure it's a wolf spider, almost 3 inches or so front to back legspan. Found it on the way to the bathroom the other night

Good thing I saw this thread in the middle of the afternoon and not tonight before TRYING to get to sleep. I'm gonna have the feeling like spiders are crawling on me for a while. BTW is that Patty's EDC?

Patty Is Beautiful. A Very Neat Looking Spider. And Yes, They Are Pretty Harmless.
They're Really Neat. You Should Take A Look At Their Web Designs Which Is Where They Got Their Name As The "Golden Silk Orb-Weaver". Some Of The Most Beautiful Webs I've Ever Seen.

Oh, And You Named Her Right. "Patty" Is Perfect. She Is For Sure A Female As She Is Much Larger Than A Male.

Oh And Patty Has A Good Taste In Knives!

P.S,
That Wolf Spider Is Pretty Cool Looking. But I Don't Think I'd Want Any Of These Spiders Hanging Out In My House Lol. As Long As They Play Outside They're Fine. I Think Spiders Are Really Cool, But Don't Want Them Spinning Webs All Over My Stuff And Crawling On Me In My Sleep.

I saw one of these things destroy a good size green anole (lizard) while living in Fla. We had a big momma hanging out in our kitchen window (outside) and she got the anole in her web and she had him in Pcs in no time! Scary, but cool to see. We would catch crickets and throw them into her web for snacks! Cool Spiders but my daughter is terrified of them! Also, nothing will make you jump off your mountain bike faster in total disregard to your well being, like hitting a web on the trail and have it's maker dangling from your visor on your helmet!

Patty came out to play

I feel spiders are under a miss perception. If it was not for spiders flies and mosquitoes would be ramped. They keep the balance and are very tidy and chances are they are cleaner then our friends and family. We don't spray or burn our friends and family with all those poisons.

Bugs are all bad is just a marketing ploy and a perception we have from childhood of parents jumping and screaming if there are ants walking around IMO.

Seriously. I love Sypderco, but I'd have to go all Chemical Ali on these guys. In CO we get black widows here and there but none of these nasty, jungle spiders. Chills....

Lived in FL in the mid-seventies. Never saw one of these, but if I had, I woulda moved back to TN a lot sooner. :D

great pic!

I love all of them - spiders and Spydercos alike. I used to be really intimidated by them, but over the years I've grown fond of them. They do an incredible job of clearing out the bug population. In our old apartment complex, an exterminator sprayed for some kind of insect infestation, and managed to kill most if not all of our spiders. By mid-summer the insects (just about every kind in northern California) had gotten so bad I'd hose down the patio just so we could have dinner out there. The next year the spiders were back, and the resulting insect carnage was fun to watch. (I told the building manager if they sent the exterminator around again, I'd feed him to the big hairy wolf spider in our junipers.)

I kill Black Widows, only because their bite could kill a small child; but I leave the others alone.
