Quality of Blur

Hey guys, in looking at the Blur models of knives, they look like pretty good knives. I guess that they are not on par with my BM's, Spydercos, and such, but are they still pretty decent? I am not trying to find replacements for my better knives, and don't expect them to be for the price.
But are they still decent quality? How is the Sandvik 14c28n steel? What is that similar to? Thanks for the help guys.

Blurs are great. They come in all flavors of handles, colors, and steels (154, s30v are most common higher grade). The standard sandvik relates (to me) like 440c ish. Snag a blem from kershawguy here on the forums if you just want to test the water.

The Blur is a fantastic knife. I've had three and I liked all of them more than most Benchmades I've had. 14C28N is a pretty decent steel but I would try to find one of the ones in CPM-154. It's an amazing steel.

weech, that is exactly where I'm going to order one from.

Seelow, you got any suggestions, where I would be able tofind one of those at? I would love to find one of the hybrid blades, in M390!

I prefer my Blur slightly over my Griptilian. That's how much I like it.

Blurs don't come in M390.

I don't own one yet, but the fit an finish is on par with benchmade and spyderco IMO (at least in the examples I've held)

KershawGuy might have some left. The CPM-154 Blurs aren't regular production so it might be hard to find them sometimes. The S30V one is regular production though IIRC. I like CPM-154 a lot more than S30V though.

I dont own any BM or high end spydercos so its hard for me to compare. But way people talk about the blur u would think its up there if not better than most other knives......like i said i wouldnt know but the blur is loved!!!!!!

As far as build quality and FnF... there isn't anything to improve on. Personally I'm not a huge fan of them, but it's an aesthetics and design criticism, nothing mechanical.

I own some high-end Benchmades, and a few of the better Spydercos. The Blur is on par with any of them, fit and finish-wise. And when you get one with S30V or especially CPM154, you're talking the equal of any of them, IMO. The ONLY thing that any Benchmade has over any KAI, IMO, is the AXIS lock, with the exception of the Adamas. I believe that one has a slight edge over even the 0301... But even that just barely.

For your money, owning a LOT of Benchmades myself, IMO you get more for your money from KAI.

Heh...blended. If you manage to find a composite bladed Blur for any kind of reasonable price, you'd be lucky. They're not particularly common.

The CPM-154 Blur with the carbon fiber inserts is still available from some retailers, but as far as I know kershawguy (Dave) is out of them. I bought three of those, and so contributed greatly to his lack of Blurness. In response to your original post, it's a bit of an affront to assert that Blurs are not on par with "BM's, Spydercos, and such" especially considering how much of a blanket statement that was. A Benchmade or Spyderco what? Griptilian? Not even in the same league as something like a CPM-154 Blur.

If you want sleek and stylish with one of the best user steels (in my submission), then seek out a CF154 Blur. If you want something less expensive with a great steel, get a standard production S30V model. Either way they are built very well and perform just as well.

The CF154 Blur, btw, was the greatest knife ever made ever by anyone ever forever ever. Ever. :D Happy hunting!

I need to replenish the Blur fund after getting the BOR. The OD and Anniversary are next on my list.
