Quality question?

Dug out mine today & found I had three horn-handled versions. All three have shrunk. Set out the two newest for treatment, but had not considered Balistol. I'll try it. Thanks.

The oldest one has a non-polished blade, about a half-inch spine at its widest, and zero blade markings of any kind.
Seems like I got onto it & Bill through an ad in something, it was made before his sources were standardized & prettied-up. :)
He said on the phone his father-in-law traveled the country looking for good samples to buy for Bill to sell here in the US.

Denis, thanks for sharing these little stories with us. :) I remember Uncle Bill talking about the Early days of H.I., You surely have an early one!

Dunno how, and they're just the same stuff everybody else has. :)
If he's looking to see the horn shrinkage, wouldn't be very visible in photos.
I can feel it in my hand where the metal is now raised higher than the horn where common edges meet.
I'll have to judiciously file the metal down to match the horn, otherwise the rivets & exposed tang edges will be abrasive on skin.
