Quality if one of the most often used words in these forums and many other places, too. What's the dictionary say about it?
---------------------------------------------
quality
noun (PL. -ies) 1 [MASS NOUN] the standard of
something as measured against other things of a similar
kind; the degree of excellence of something: an
improvement in product quality | [COUNT NOUN]
people today enjoy a better quality of life.
---------------------------------------------
Definitions out of the way what does quality mean to Himalayan Imports and our customers?
In our world quality is comprised of two things only: Steel and workmanship.
It is our belief that present day leaf springs make the best khukuris so that's what we use. If it's not made from a spring it can't be an HI khukuri. That takes care of the steel.
And, workmanship. Having the steel available is requirement number one. Requirement number two is knowing what to do with the steel. If a person doesn't know what to do with the steel then there is no HI khukuri. If a person is "expert" in working steel, a master kami, then forge ahead -- if you'll pardon the pun.
Combine the two requirements and you get an HI khukuri. Subject this khukuri to four inspections and you get what we send to customers -- a knife that is going to stand up to the heaviest use for years. This is what quality means to us and this is what we offer.
