Thought y'all might enjoy my latest article. Had some storm fall last weekend and before setting to with my chainsaw I did some side by side chopping with the BK20, a TM Hunt M18, and an LT Wright Competition Chopper. Observations on the link below!

I didn't mention it in the article, but I also did some work with the BK21 at the same time and it outchopped all three of these blades, biting deeper into the main limb than any of them and with less effort than the M18 or LTWK. A little more awkward on a chopping block though.

Good to hear about the bk21! I have one on the way to me that may just put my bk20 up on the chopping block. Thanks for the comparison!
The best thing I did to my 21 was too fatten up the scales. It now slams where I want it. As stock is too thin for my grip and I was not able to comfortably hang on. It has a good amount of forward weight. I like the 21 a lot hope you do too. I also like the 20 :)

I find the bk20 just tiring to chop with for any extended amount of time. When fatigue sets in, I've had it almost slip out of my hand! Plus, I have yet to find anything that will outchop my 1311.

That's where the 9 and 4 shine . I would not want to make a day swinging a 20 or 21 for extended periods eather the weight will definitely get to you :D

I was curious as to how the 21 would act as a "one knife" option for an overnighter. When I get the 21, I'll probably just sharpen it and throw it in my truck box for an emergency big knife!

I find when my BK20 is sharp it is a breeze to chop with and gets a lot more done in the same amount of time than the 4 or the 9, it may be a bit heavier but that is to its advantage as it bites deeper with less effort so you don't tire as quick as when you use the 4 or the 9. Side-by-side the I get more processed in the same amount of time with the 20, the 9 takes longer so the fatigue saved by the lighter weight is still taken up by the longer chopping time.

The 4 and 9 don't feel like they will slip out of my hand though. The 20 on more than one occasion, has partially slipped out of my grip. I'm hoping the 21 isn't so forward heavy that it gets tiresome to use. With my 1311, I can chop wood with that thing all day long!

I think you can make any big knife work as one knife option if you want, might not always be the best choice. Why not the 1311 ? The 21 has forward weight.

I've done an overnighter with just the 1311 and it passed my standards for a big chopper! Now I'm just trying to find another big chopper to add to the arsenal. I'm hoping this 21 is the one!

I have to say using the 20 or 21 I let the weight of the blade do the work and I don't race swinging them . Have managed to get what I need done with a smile. I have never spent all day swinging any knife . The big blades get it done :D if I were to have to have swing a knife all day it would be the 9 or 4

Thank's David for another good review

If you're talking about the 21s that @nutoknives let me borrow, I really like the thin Becker one better than the thicker Blackjack one. Someone told me that the current bk21 is in between the two that I have, in blade thickness that is....

You don't think I'll like it do you? I can always put it up for sale if I don't, so I can try out another chopper! I'm trying to score a CPK LC right now and it looks like Nathan is releasing 4 of them for sale this Friday!
I have no idea, you might. I was just laughing at the weight forward part, haha. It's very weight forward.
