Quartermaster Mr.Spicoli

Sounds good. Let us know how it works out for you. I love the clean design.

Right off the bat it reminds me of something Chavez does mixed with a DPX...

Chavez and DPx. As in RYP and DPx Gear? And Chavez as in the big folder with the skull clip? I have no idea what you're talking about. If you don't mind, feel free to shoot me a message and I'm not trying to be nosey just a customer is all. Thanks.👊

No worries, man. I should have been more specific. All I meant was the high grind of the Spicoli reminds me of the DPX Hest, and the finishes on the blade and Ti reminded me of a Redencion. Nothing bad at all, it's just what sparked in my brain when I first saw it.

I've got #268 and the first impressions were that it felt super solid and flipped great. Over time though it developed more side-to-side play than I would have liked so I stripped it down, cleaned it, and put some loctite in the pivot and let it sit for about a day after figuring out where I wanted it. Now it flips wonderfully and so far havsn't developed any more play and i'm hoping it'll stay that way. This is my first Quartermaster knife and i've been following this one's production for a while so I hope it will not disappoint, it truly does seem lovely (as long as it will perform).

Avoiding dererailing this thread, I would just say read through this and I think you will understand: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...rmaster-knives?highlight=quartermaster+knives. I don't think the information presented in that thread have been discredited yet by anyone at Quartermaster. Not mentioned in that thread was the design that was outright stolen from John Gray that they were forced to cancel.

On topic: BladeHQ just posted an overview of the knife. Sticky lock with a steel insert?

Actually Quartermaster denies that the documents about them making things in china are legit. They say that it was a disgruntled ex associate trying to give them a bad name. They say that is not their address nor company name. For all we know that could be imported screws. Im not defending them, Im just repeating what was told to me via email directly from quartermaster

Don't care what some people say about them bought one and couldn't believe how nice made like it better than my Strider and Rick Hinderer. Order me another one you can't cut the knife down unless you had one in your hand and see how nice

ha ha ha ha ha.........good one man, I needed that

Controversy aside, I thoroughly enjoy my Spicoli. It seems to be of a higher quality construction than some of their other knives. It flips great, the sculpted clips are a nice touch and its fun to play with. I will say on mine and the other one I have seen in person the blade grind has had a flaw in it. The grind didnt finish out the blade all the way to the end. This unfortunately reinforces the argument that their manufacturing standards aren't what they say they are. You can see the blade issues towards the end of this video: https://youtu.be/-Qrxr90lWtY

All that said, for the money go track down a ZT 0562CF or I suppose the G10 model. Its FANTASTIC, flips smooth as butter and carries oh so nicely.

Hope you get something from these ramblings.

Cheers!
