I'm looking at the quartermaster qtr7. Has anyone had any experience with it I'm looking to EDC and beat the hell out of it or if not can you recommend me another Knife without 1095 high carbon steel.

Quatermaster is a dubious brand at best. Do a search here on them. They lie about where they are made. Shameful really. I wouldn't have one in my pocket if it was free, much less spend money on one.

Yep...that pretty much sums it up for me as well.

I have one in the Texas Tea finish. It's a tank for sure, if that's what you're looking for. The Holstex/clear Kydex sheath is secure. Not too tight, not loose, just right. I'm not really crazy about the MALICE clips used for belt retention. I'll probably try to see if I can mount a Tek-Lok or something similar on it. This is not a slicer. The blade is 5mm thick at the spine and 1mm (~.04") thick just behind the edge. Combine this with the low saber grind, and you can see what I mean. It came very sharp and cuts well enough, it's just not a slicer. I was trying to think of a similar sized and similarly beefy knife and the closest I have is the Cold Steel SRK. The SRK has a similarly thick geometry but more traditional blade shape. The QM is thinner in the handle, and the G-10 scales are going to be more durable than the SRK's Kraton slip-on handle. On the other hand, the SRK is going to be more comfortable to use for extended periods. The SRK sheath is a bit snugger on retention and has a similarly cruddy (imho) mounting system, but it too could be replaced with a Tek-Lok. I think overall I'd take the SRK, unless you just really dig the looks of the QM. I just think the SRK is a bit more utilitarian, but either will work as a beefy fixed edc.
