Quartermasters new video

I still haven't seen any evidence, just a lot of very strange statements by the company. It's strange enough that I don't think I'd buy a knife from them.

But still no evidence.

I saw someone claiming that a shipment of knives from China was for QM. How does one get hold of such information? How can we know this true?

Jared says made in USA
You're right. He has produced no evidence
On the other hand, his "factory" is a residence in an area zone for single family occupancy and Texas has no record of a business licence for this supposedly Texas business. Then there are the public records of imports of tons of CHINA knives to the address Jared gave for the "factory"-- addressed to the name of the company that owns the Quartermaster Trademark AND the videos of machinery that has been shown on line as located in China that Jared posted on line as videos of his equipment.

So the evidence is overwhelming.

They "make" a balisong. If even a screw wasn't made in the USA, they could get hit hard by US Customs. Spyderco got hit pretty hard for using non-US materials for their earlier balisongs because of the Switchblade Act. A ton of parts confiscated and a bigass fine.

And even were they made in the phantom plant in Texas, they basically cannot be sold outside Texas due to the Federal Switchblade Act. 15 U.S.C. Sec. 1241 et seq. Like, with few narrow exceptions, it would be a felony to ship them to anyone in Utah - or Virginia.

That's right. The onus is on the company to supply evidence. Like I said in a previous post: It's sooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy to do so. Want to challenge if Glocks some make guns in Atlanta, or Spyderco makes knives in Golden? THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT THEY DO.

I'm impressed with GP Knives and now Blade HQ for dropping Quartermaster. Funny, you would think that this would be news, but KnifeNews didn't bother to mention these facts in their latest post about Quartermaster.

Good. Looks like QTRMSTR couldn't provide "EVIDENCE".

Someone has to spend the money and effort to bring him to court.

Yes, I am too.

QTRM5TR operates an 8,500 square foot state-of-the-art facility that was custom built from the ground up to accommodate their manufacturing needs. It houses multiple design studios, think tanks, medical-grade clean room and a 3 story-high knife museum.

I didn't know you can stack B/S 3 stories high.
So what happened to this factory that doesn't exist ? New LIE!

KNIFENEWS > We also asked the company to address rumors they’ve been outsourcing production to China while claiming their knives are made in the USA. West maintains QTRMSTR knives are produced stateside and says the company uses five different production facilities across the country for different processes. West goes on to say the controversy hasn’t interfered with QTRMSTR’s mission. “If teenagers want to make false connections it’s not for us to worry about. Cream rises to the top. As long as we keep up the great quality we’ll prove we’re one of the top contenders.”

As soon as that garbage was spouted, the interviewer should have pulled out a screenshot of the website which talks about the whole multistory think-tank/museum/workshop/cleanroom garbage and asked the obvious question. "So...so wait. If you have five companies across the country making stuff for you....WHAT HAPPENS AT THIS SUPER DUPER SPY COMPLEX?"

Imho, Knife News isn't worth the paper it's printed on and isn't news at all . Even Jared West own Father has publicly stated about his scams!

This should be a CLUE for even the dullest blade to figure out.

I guess this multi million dollar Knife factory vanished into thin air ?

In addition to the FTC, it seems there could be a class-action against the company from people who believed they were buying U.S. made products. This would likely require some funding, as an attorney would have to ask for sales records from the big online shops to get customer names to create a class. (Not an attorney, so I could be wrong.)

I have no personal experience with Quartermaster and therefore no issue. I have a big issue with any company claiming to make products in the U.S. when they don't. This is one of the worst things a company can do, imo. Hoping this plays out the way it should.

btw, who make a claim that something is unscripted? That's like saying "I didn't steal this" when nobody accused you of stealing.

A "win" in a suit for damages is as good as the ability of the judgment debtor to pay. Jared never looks flush.

Negative publicity. Seizing assets. Based on what he's charging I'm sure he's making some money. People will likely never get their money back. It's more about feeling some justice has been done. Everybody in the class-action could end up with a few dollars. Not likely any better than that.

A lawyer is unlikely to take the case without a sizable retainer against an hourly fee unless the defendant has assets from with the lawyer can be paid a % as a contingency fee. Best shot is hitting someone at the G or the State of Texas who decides Jared's ride should be over.

If Quartermaster has proven anything over the years, it's that they will continue to deny even when presented with damning evidence.

Instead of talking about it on the internet (again and again), why not do something? If Quartermaster is lying about the origins of their products, then 1.) they are violating Federal Trade Commission regulations, and 2.) Breaking federal law in the Federal Switchblade Act by importing their balisong.

IF YOU WANT TO ACT:

CALL or EMAIL the FTC's enforcement division: (202) 326-2996 or MUSA@ftc.gov
CALL the Customs commercial fraud hotline: 1-800-ITS-FAKE
CALL the National Advertising division of the BBB: (212) 754-1320

Simply explain Quartermaster's specific claims of US manufacturing, and specifically why you believe it to be untrue.
- Quartermaster's manufacturing facility being located in a residential location.
- The duty records of China imports being delivered to the business address.
- The inability to prove otherwise when pressed for evidence.
- The instagram pictures revealing WE knives equipment in Quartermaster posts.
- Major retailers refusing to sell their knives based on their reputation.

I will try to compile a handy "cheat sheet" of all this evidence for those others who wish to act.

Knife News seems to have quickly devolved into posting press releases and softball stories of questionable nature. No clue if they are paid for it or if they just need to generate content.

QTRMSTRT crap articles

Microtech's 'response' article

Gerber is making 'enthusiast' knives again article

Just a metric ton of new product announcement press releases...

I had/have hope that they can improve, but they really are just reposting press releases and interview snip bits. They have zero editorial voice right now, which probably grants them better access, but the content suffers dramatically in response.
