Hey Tinman congrats, that's pretty awesome! Those Bourbon Street Skinners are a nasty looking blade...but I mean that in a really good way ;-) It looks cool with the 3D spalting as well and as always the Osage Orange is very handsome. I'm in pretty much the same position as you: the Bushfinger I picked up on this thread will be my first Fiddleback, first handmade knife (that wasn't a hand me down) and my first knife off of Blade Forums! I'm reaaally excited to get it too: it's been raining like crazy here so I haven't been at camp and normally it's times like this when I'd get a lot of carving done, but I'm doing no work...just thinking about getting my hands on that new blade and putting it through the paces. I was even out walking the other day in a brief pause in the downpour and my mind was drifting, totally elsewhere, when I saw a patch of Fiddleheads...and back I drifted to thinking about these blades. I don't think it's helping much that I've spent some of my free time catching up on the back-catalogue of threads on this sub-forum: honestly the more I learn about Fiddleback Forge the more difficult it becomes to wait patiently, and I'm normally a very patient person. I don't know how you all do this on a regular basis haha!

If it is still available I will take the White Karda without a sheath... Hope it is ok to ask for it without the sheath.

That's a really sweet knife! The colours and pattern are really subdued but still attractive and it gives the whole knife a simple, classic look...I'll bet it's going to look even better after a little bit of use. Really loving that HikingBuddy pattern as well: the blade size and shape look just about perfect for a smallish utility/carving knife. I'm going to have to pick one up when I get the chance.

I hope this isn't considered straying too far off-topic guys, as I'm still a little new to the whole forum etiquette thing...but I thought some of you might get a little chuckle out of this. Might even have shared my current plight yourself once or twice, as laughable a "dire situation" as it actually is. So my Bushfinger has been moving along, making its way to me, and since it left the Canadian Customs office yesterday afternoon and I was definitely expecting to receive it today. For whatever reason it didn't make it so it looks like I'm not going to get to put my new Fiddleback to the test until next week! Oh man, I had set up a whole list of chores I was going to put the new blade through this weekend and I guess I'll just have to BBQ and drink beer instead! Hell! This is going to be one looooooong weekend hahaha! ;)

pveiled, I can certainly relate to that. Honestly. :( But kept in the proper perspective; it can help refocus us on what is really important in life. :)

On another note, it sure would be awesome if you post some photos and thoughts after you get the knife chore list done! Take care.

Mark

Haha thanks for the empathy Mark, but trust me I am definitely just being cheeky. To actually be upset about something so trivial (not to mention unconrtollable) would I think have to qualify as a true "Third World Problem." I guess this is what I get for living in Canada :D I'm absolutely looking forward to getting my new knife though and I'm itching to put it through the paces. I am also definitely planning to put up a little review once I've got to know the Bushfinger, you can be sure of that. My lady has a sweet camera so hopefully I can coax her into taking a few pictures for y'all. I love seeing pics of Andy's work so I'll do my best to share back.

pveiled I can sympathize with you. :) I live in an apartment. When I receive "delivery confirmation" packages they wind up back at the Post Office for me to pick up and sign for. I'll track a package at work and see it's "out for delivery". I'll rush home, only to see the horrible little orange note telling me to pick it up tomorrow because I wasn't home to sign.

I got burned one time right before a camping trip. I ordered a knife that was available right before a trip. It was due to arrive the night before I left. Sure enough I got a little orange note instead. I had to wait until after my trip to pick it up. Anymore I plan around that and expect an extra day for shipping. The stresses we must endure .... :D :D
