Queen amber bone trapper vs case chestnut bone trapper

I would have to give a slight edge to the Queen knives. I have three of them, and I love the D2. As reported though, all the D2 Queens were received only fairly sharp. Once correctly profiled, they hold an edge to beat the band and are easy to touch up.

However, reprofiling or first sharpening is time consuming. Worth it in the end, but time consuming. And their amber bone is nothing short of beautiful.

If you are wondering about Queen D2 and want to try some, track down their "Country Cousin" small sodbuster. I got one of those (about $23 plus shipping for an American made knife!) and it is a slicing devil. I bought mine with yellow scales, and it is a really nice knife reminding me of years gone by. As with the others though, I had to sharpen it. Being a simple flat ground blade, this one didn't take too long, though.

Cases CV must be softer than the 1095 or D2. I hav had a heck of a time sharpening the 1095 on my new Queen. I can get an edge on my Case CV with ease.

Case CV for me. I like scarry sharp :D

If Queen would grind their blades thinner, I might give em another shot.

ditto to knarfeng, the laetest queens i bought seem to be a little better on the edge, earlier ones were dull as a brick. if i can get the amber bone i go that way in d2 . otherwise both brands in general are among the very best american made brands. if you do'nt have diamonds do'nt buy d2.
