i have a sodbuster I bought over a year back and carried it for a week or two, but it just doesnt seem to fit into my edc rotation. it came from the factory somewhat dull, so I touched it up a bit, but it still isn't hair popping sharp. no box, lightly carried, but with no play and snaps shut with authority. I know it is nothing fancy, but I started out with a similar knife, and id like to see it go to a youngin who will be taught responsible knife ownership/usage by a family member of friend of the family. post your stories about a child who would love to own their "own knife", what they would use it for, and I will decide based upon which entry puts the biggest smile on my face. :D

I have A 12 YR. OLD grandson that loves to hunt and hike the woods................this would make a nice Christmas gift.................Thanks for the chance...............carl

I think it would be a great knife for my 9 year old Nephew. I have gifted him a SAK and he has showed that he is responsible enough to move up yo the next level of folder. Thanks for the chance.

My 8-year old cousin is a budding knife knut. So far all he's got is junk like Walmart Bear Grylls branded Gerber knives, although I recently got him a Victorinox Tinker which he loves.

He's a good kid but has a dead beat, no-show dad so I've tried to act as a positive male role model for him -- taught him to shoot a .22 on his birthday and the fundamentals of safe gun handling.

He likes fishing with his step-dad, camping and hanging out in the woods. Probably going to go deer hunting in the next year or two. I'd love for him to have a quality, traditional knife with him -- one he can be proud of. I know he'd get a kick out of the backstory, too.

Thanks for the chance and the giveaway.

Not an entry (I'm 14 myself haha) but good on you for doing such a cool give away, you're going to make some kid real happy!

Not a entry either but good for you great knife. Thanks for the giveaway good luck everyone.

Not an entry, but thanks for doing a give away. There is nothing like being trained on a good old fashion slipjoint it's the way I think kids should be trained to use a knife so they don't develop a habit of relying on a locking mechanism that may fail.

My first knife was a Victornox Recruit and in fact is right in front of me, I hope whoever gets it will put it to as use as much as I did my old Recruit.

Not an entry, just a comment that this would be a great knife for a young person to start with. Great GAW. :)

We have a family friend renting our basement with her 10 yr old son and 12 yr old daugher plus the dead beat boy friend... Most days the kids spend there time with my family and my neices. Tony the 10 yr old, and also the only boy (lucky guy haha) Spends quite a bit of time with me when Im not at work. Taught him how to ride a bike a few months ago, take him on hikes with me, fishing, bike riding, I take him to the barber shop LIKE EVERY FATHER SHOULD DO WITH THEIR SON! Being a barber and son of a father who took me bi weekly to get my hair cut this is some of the best quality time you can spend with your kids. Especially if you have a great barber whom you can chit chat with. Anywho thanks for chance! Im sure Tony will be thrilled and making fire sticks, roasting marshmallows in the grill haha

im gonna wait and let this thread run thru the weekend, maybe get a few more entries and i'll notify the "winner" next week so I can get their info.

My nephew Cameron would really appreciate this knife. He's twelve now and is in the Boy Scouts. The scouts only teach a boy so much. He has a scout knife but it's time for a bigger "real" pocket knife. I had planned on getting him something like the Country Cousin or Sod Buster for Christmas. He's a really good kid and has been fishing with me since he was very young. I plan to take him along on a Dove hunt this year and then off to hunting camp. His father isn't the outdoorsy-knife kind of guy but he is a good father to my nephew and niece. I have tried to spend as much time as possible with him in the outdoors so he understands more than how to use the internet and a game system etc. He really gets excited every time I call and see if he wants to go OUT and do whatever with me.

So we're in. Thanks!

I have a 12 yo godson, Bruno, who'd be delighted to have a knife like this... We often go fishing together and this summer I've given him small cheapo chinese flipper* and he likes it, but I do feel guilty for giving him such crappy knife. He does appreciate a good knife, and something like this beauty would also teach him to respect knife and treat it properly. (mind you, it really looks nice- now I'm in the mood to get myself one as well :)) He spends most of his weekends fishing with me, mostly in the 'bush', so it'll come in handy too.

* I bought it for myself as a work friendly replacement for my EDC, but then decided to go the opposite route and find even more work unfriendly knife to carry to work...

Great idea for a giveaway! I would give this knife to my mom's neighbor's son. My mom lives on 5 acres of land and has 3 horses. I live two hours away, and my other brothers live far also. (Gotta go where the job takes you!) Because of this, the lawn gets neglected since my step dad is a trucker. The young man is 12, and mows the pasture for my mom. He refuses money, but takes food:)
He is a nice, hardworking kid and I would love to give this knife to him. It would also get me over there to mow the grass myself!
