queen mountain man fit and finish

I have both the lockback and slipjoint Queen Mountain Man knives.

The only flaw in the the lock back is a small amount of vertical blade play if I grab the blade and wiggle it. This flaw is reasonably common in traditional lockbacks because of the traditional lock design.

If my slipjoint Queen Mountain Man has a flaw, I haven't noticed it.

Note: the foregoing applies to the knives after I put proper edges on them.

Heard back from queen already, they said send it in for replacement.
Im happy with that ill let everyone know what the replacement is like in a few weeks

Tell your Mountain Man to say hello to my Swell Center when it gets there. :D

Hey all after a good email response from queen I sent my MM slippie inand after a long and painful wait for postage recieved today my replacement.
And I am impressed the new one is as near to spot on as can be expected for the price.
Blade is nicely centered, no rubbing on the liner, no hitting the backspring when closed and nice even bolsters, the grind is crisp and the edge thin and straight.
There is a tiny gap between liner and backspring near the lanyard hole, the blade has a wee bit of side play and there is a bit of a burr on one of the domed pins... but its not a custom.
Overall Im very happy good response, prompt service and for the price an excellently put together piece Ill enjoy using. Well done Queen. For those with similar issues i say let the good folls at Queen know and they will make it right.

Send it in to repair or replace. I am still learning on traditionals but the blade hitting the spring should definitely not happen as that is a mechanical flaw and affects the knife's function.

Glad it worked out for you.

Glad to hear they made it right. I want to like some Queen patterns but I'm always hesitant due to the QC reports we frequently see. Nice to know they are standing behind their warranty.

Just wanted to let you know that the slightly uneven look in the steel is just an inherent quality in polished D2 and has nothing to do with the grind. Due to its molecular makeup it just won't polish glass smooth like 1095 does, but to me its edge holding ability is far more important than how mirror like the polish is.
