Hey,

I just ordered a Mtn Man lockback, Sambar Stag, 1095, from Bill Horn. Never held one, but so absolutely beautiful that I wanted it.

1095 has seemed not so hard to sharpen in the past (I had a Schrade in 1095 a while ago - traded it).

Any opinions on the Mtn Man setup? The fact that it locks is a big
bonus for me - too often, I hand my knife to someone else to use, and
they don't know or realize that slipjoints do in fact fold up on you. Hell,
sometimes I forget, too.

Anyway, any opinions are appreciated!

Thanks

Love the Queen MM. I used the "crimson" 1095 version all summer long in place of my normal fixed blades, and it performed very well.

Where did you get yours, I have been looking for one and really want one. I want it in either D2 or in the 1095. Also has it been pretty tight for you all so far as far as opening and closing.

No... mine was not tight at all. Over the season of use, it developed a Little blade play. I covered the bolster with a soft rag, and have it a few light raps with my dead blow hammer. No more blade play:D

I purchased mine here:

Great prices and customer service!!!

Wow - didn't expect such a volume of response (great!).

I did notice the lanyard hole, and I've never made a lanyard "string" (or whatever the right term is). I think I need one, since I'm used to the Spydie clipons for the past few years (great knives, but no romance with FRN, is there ;).

Anyway, I don't want to lose this puppy when it arrives (tomorrow, hopefully). Any advice on making lanyard strings, how to affix (if that's a word ?!) it to my pocket, etc. ??

BTW, that looks like 550 para cord on some of those lanyard strings...is it?

Thanks

I hate to be a fly in the ointment, but Queens customer service leaves alot to be desired. I bought a Mtn. Man from cumberland, and when it arrived the blade had movement both side to side and up and down. Also, the lanyard tude was VERY rough and would cut skin. I called Queen and sent it back for repairs....that was six weeks ago and still no knife. They told me it would ship 4 weeks ago and when I called a few days ago, it had not shipped yet. When I get it back, it will be for sale as I now have lost my desire to have the knife. Sorry for the rant..Jim

I have emailed Queen several times with no response. This tells me two things..1) They are getting ready to go belly up like Schrade or 2) Queen just dosn't give a darn about its customers. JMHO & experience with Queen.

Hellow there Fellas',

I for one love the modern Queen pocket knives in all respects, however, this is the first I have heard about there customer service departments performance or lack of it, as it were. Thank you both tidefan and silenthunterstudios for your input. This certainly is a factor to consider when making a future purchase.. Thanks again fellow's

I hate to hear this stuff about Queen and their customer service, my only experience with them was the total opposite. I broke the tip off the blade of the Mountain Man you see at the bottom of the photo above, called Queen and offered to pay for a new blade, they told me to send it in and I got it back in just 8 days with a new blade, no charge.

I have read on other forums that calling Queen on the phone was the best way to contact them for a service problem...

I have two MM and have not experienced any of the problems that some have mentioned with their Mountain Man knives. But this does give me an opportunity to put a picture or two up...:D Sorry for the repeat pics for some of you...

....me too. I'm sorry to hear some of you fellows have not gotten the attention you deserve from Queen nor the performance one should expect from a Queen made knife. It's always disappointing to spend your hard earned money on a knife and not get your dollars worth.....and disappointing for me too to learn that one of my favorite knife manufacturers has let you down !
I do hope things get resolved for you to your satisfaction.

LC...that's quite a "line up" of Mt. Men.....they all look "guilty" of providing plenty of satisfaction !

Great photos sunburst...mind if I download those for wallpaper ?

-Best regards

I've had two so far, both had extreme amounts of play - left, right,up & down. The first I sent back for refund, the second I sent to queen for repair. I got it back in about 1.5mos. It was fine for about two months and then it started to loosen up again. Which really bites. It is one of my favorite folder styles. Now if someone will make a good one, I'll buy more. An exposed rivet or adjustable pivet might do the trick. Then again doing that so it looks good might be a trick in its self.
