I think you'll like it. The action on mine was stiff and gritty out of the box. After cleaning and lubing it works great. Snaps open and closed like a champ. Not a bear trap like some GEC's though.

Northwoods has used "stabilized ebony" in the Indian River knives. I'm quite certain that these handles will be impervious to sweat and other moisture. I just took mine out of my pocket. The ebony is a bit shiney. I'm quite certain it's waterproof. Hey Derrick, I think selling sharp knives is a GREAT marketing plan!

If I were you, I'd go for the Northwoods. I say this only because I just started looking to buy one of the Queen Dan Burke Barlows and I don't want you to get the last one!!

No, seriously, I really like that Queen and just think you would be very happy with it. Go with the Queen!

The Gladiator is GEC. It is a remarkable knife. The only one I have seen with such a super steel. I have had great feedback on it.

As to the future....

We will be having Queen make our knives. We will be doing several things that will distinguish them from Queen...

Better steels--we are looking at doing all of them in ATS34
Premium handle materials
Some newly designed patterns
Different blade configurations
We are even thinking about making sure all of the new ones are sharp. :)

Sharp, out of the box? That is a novel idea for Queen! Seriously, I love my Queen knives, but I hesitate to buy them as I do not look forward to the hours of putting a good edge on them. I love that my Canal Streets come nice and sharp out of the box.

The only way we can guarantee sharpness is that we are having them sharpened after production.

I am thrilled with Queen's knives, but not with their sharpness. :)

Last week I asked about the Indian River Jack and The Dan Burke Barlow. which one should I buy? Well needless to say I got'em both. They both were at my house when I got home yesterday. I opened the IRJ first, just as yall told me wonderful knife, looks good, great feel and rides well and good and sharpe. Then I get to the DBB, it's a good looking knife, made well, I really like the knife and believe it or not it's sharpe!! It shaved the hair off my arms straight out of the box. I guess I got lucky, I was ready to go to work on the blade, but it was really nice and sharpe!! I just wanted to take time and tell everybody who helped me thanks and let everybody know how much I like both of these knives. Thanks once again for all the input!!
