Queen or Western

Forest Edge is Delrin that is jigged to look like Winterbottom Bone. Only this Delrin is a shade of green. The Queen line in general is very well made. You can't beat the D2 steel they use either.

D2 steel will hold a much better edge, provided it is heat treated properly. It can handle a very high rockwell hardness. D2 is a carbon tool steel, the chromium content is just a hair below the line of calling this steel "stainless" some call it "semi stainless". I think the western knives are made by Camillus. I have owned a couple of the western brand and have not been disappointed. Camillus/Western has a forum here under makers and manufacturers. If you really want to have some fun, ask these "knifeknuts" what you should get. Tell us the absolute most you will spend, the style of knife, size of knife and the kind of tasks you will put it to. You will have more info and suggestions than you need. I will say go with a Spyderco Moran and get VG10 and forget about Western queens....... ;)
