Queen Stainless Steel?

I have a Queen slip joint, single 3 inch clip pointed blade, 4 inches closed, with rounded nickel silver bolsters on each end and Derlin (?) stag slabs. Tried to Ox-FO blue it, and it is apparently stainless steel, the bolster changed color but I was able to steel wool it off, but the blade did not take the bluing. Blade is marked, "Queen Cut Co" in an arch, below that in a straight line is "Titusville, PA". Any idea of what type stainless steel Queen would have been using for this knife?

If I am reading my reference books right, that tangstamp is from the late 1940's?

Does it say "Queen Cut. Co." or "Queen Culery" in the arch over "Titusville, PA"?

The later would be much newer, in the 90's.

Queen has used many stainless steels over the years, from 440C to 420HC.

If your is from the 40's it's probably 440, if newer more likely 420HC.

Thanks for chiming in knifeholic, this one has me confused somewhat, my books show "Queen Cut. CO." as being from the 40's, but as a straight line stamping, not an "arch".

Is that the difference between the old one and new?

PS, really digging that CSB Congress!

Yes, the arch...and the older ones never said Titusville PA...

Glad you like the CSB.......BTW, I have a number of Moore Makers and Schatts......

All, thanks for the answers, and no way this could be a 40's knife. Still it has very good walk and talk and for $10 I think I will keep it.
